As fall approaches and the temperatures drop... long meals and red wines are starting to come to everyone's mind... time to get the boys together and cook and drink. Didn't spend enough time with the wines to give them numerical ratings.
Spent the least amount of time with these wines...
Dud of the night was easily the Robert Michel... I don't get this wine. Group favorite was the 00 Verset though good arguments were made for the 04 Clape and 00 Allemand Chaillot.
The younger Rieussec was a spectacular match for the coconut banana cream pie (one of my favorite food and wine matches)... the savory aspect of the cheeses fared better with the cheeses... really good food and wine matches.
A really fun tasting with a good vibe and plenty to discuss both in the world of wine and the world as it is.
NV Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Tradition Premier Cru
France, Champagne
Have commented on this wine below… a very nice, full, and creamy Champagne whose style may not be for everyone…"good" to "very good" Champagne.

2004 Weingut Robert Weil Riesling Kabinett halbtrocken
Germany, Rheingau
As with the Donnhoff, didn't have a lot of time to ponder this wine... very aromatic and very Rheinghau with loads of stone fruits in a very firm package... liked the drier style of the wine as it seemed to have just a little more focus of flavor... "very good" to "excellent" wine that will age well over the next 6-8 years.

2003 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese
Germany, Nahe
Didn't have a lot of time with this wine... great aromatic intensity, very honeyed, full, and rich on the palate with not a ton of focus/acidity... really good wine for the vintage but lacks a lot of what makes German Riesling so great... "good" wine overall.
