The midpalate and depth of grand cru, but the finish is premier cru. In very good shape, this wine will hold at least a couple of years.

Massive with awesome delineation - but closed tight. See me in 10 years

Samurai precision with nowhere to go.

Elegance in a glass, this is the unmistakable essence of Burgundy. Glorious, but soft, nose of roses and dirt. The palate was crystalline pure. My second favorite wine of this exceptional flight, but only by a hair. Highly recommended

Exceptional elegance and depth "on point" and on terroir. Wine of the night versus some heady competition.

Weak by comparison to the '01, but there's a lot of material here. It's like it has collapsed upon itself and will someday be reborn with superb structure. Now, though, it's clunky and lacking grace.

Tight tight tight brooding beast that barely evolved after hours in the glass. A massive black hole that will need at least a decade to become remotely approachable.

This wine is the essence of sauvage. I could see how this might turn off some people, but to me this was a revelation of nearly deific proportion. Immensely complex, and gorgeous. The finest '98 red Burgundy I can recall tasting.
