Brett and Carols, Landenberg, PA

Despite the local AWS wine meeting being canceled, Ann and I decided to venture out to hang out with Brett and Carol last night as the blizzard was bearing down on us. Brett and Carol fired up the grill and cooked up some NY strips, baked potatoes, asparagus and mixed local mushrooms. As we arrived the snow was just starting to fall, and by the time we left 4 hours later there were already 5 or 6 inches on the ground. I'd say we are at about 15 inches now and it is still coming down hard. Back to the wine - they were all really good. I wish I took a few notes......
While all the wines were really good, the Tassi Aqua Bona stood out as being very deep, complex and thought provoking.
2004 Tassi Aqua Bona Toscana IGT
Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
This is a really tasty wine. Lots of depth and complexity with well integrated tannins. Very easy drinking. Fairly modern in style but still noticeably old world - right up my alley. Brought back from Montalcino by Brett and Carol. I wish I could find this locally. Thanks for sharing!

1997 Van Der Heyden Cabernet Sauvignon Late Harvest
USA, California, Napa Valley
This is one of those wines I almost could have been happy just smelling. Really nice. Sweet with slightly raisiny port like flavors.
