The palate stats great, but has a hole in the middle...and the end has the tannins a little out of balance. The finish (which could have put this wine over the 90-point mark had it been longer) was surprisingly short. Nice wine...but not oustanding. |

A notable absence of oak compared to most of the other good Cali-cabs that I've been drinking lately. Only complaint was the slightest hint of over-ripe fruit on the mid-palate that lended a slight plummy characteristic. This seemed to appear, disappear, appear throughout the evening. Quite frankly, it was probably sitting in slightly warm conditions of Albertsons for a bit too long. All in all a very enjoyable bottle. I think I prefer the 02 though. |

Dark berries, spice, mocha that rounds fill the mouth, coupled with good structure and tannins. This has much more structure than the earlier 1999s which were "yummy" but not built to age, while I believe this should age a good 5+ years. My wife and I agreed that at least in its youth, this could so easily be mistaken for a $60+ cab. I liked this better than both the 2002 Pride (heresy i know) and the 2001 Bressler. Pretty comparable to the Phelps, which I might put a touch above. Will have to compare again to the Neal 2002, which I place as a close call at this point. Had with Korean noddles and soup... not the ideal pairing but a good excuse to drink the wine. For $25, I'll be looking to grab at least 6. |

It's great on the palate with chocolatey flavors, balanced oak, some tart acid and a moderately tannic finish. This lingers long on the tongue. I find this wine exceptionally balanced with sweet, spice, herbal, and oak flavors, pleasing acidity and tannin that is there but doesn't bite. This is a gem for the money. 90pts. |

Very young in the mouth this wine has great deep fruit with a little spicyness, a touch of chocolate and black licorice. The finish is terrific and long, but this is still pretty tight. |
