A decent wine for the price. The color and nose are gorgeous. Aromas of rich, ripe fruits. The palate stats great, but has a hole in the middle...and the end has the tannins a little out of balance. The finish (which could have put this wine over the 90-point mark had it been longer) was surprisingly short. Nice wine...but not oustanding.

Not half bad. I had a bottle of this a year ago that was totally closed, but this shows cassis, and still plenty of oak. Not bad for $15, but not my favorite at this price point

Had same evening as a 2002 Phelps Napa Cab. Preferred the Phelps for its structure and ageability, but this drank almost as well on that night. A notable absence of oak compared to most of the other good Cali-cabs that I've been drinking lately. Only complaint was the slightest hint of over-ripe fruit on the mid-palate that lended a slight plummy characteristic. This seemed to appear, disappear, appear throughout the evening. Quite frankly, it was probably sitting in slightly warm conditions of Albertsons for a bit too long. All in all a very enjoyable bottle. I think I prefer the 02 though.

This is the most underpriced, underrated cab that I know. Amazingly dark, sweet from the moment it hits the mouth to the lingering finish. Dark berries, spice, mocha that rounds fill the mouth, coupled with good structure and tannins. This has much more structure than the earlier 1999s which were "yummy" but not built to age, while I believe this should age a good 5+ years. My wife and I agreed that at least in its youth, this could so easily be mistaken for a $60+ cab. I liked this better than both the 2002 Pride (heresy i know) and the 2001 Bressler. Pretty comparable to the Phelps, which I might put a touch above. Will have to compare again to the Neal 2002, which I place as a close call at this point. Had with Korean noddles and soup... not the ideal pairing but a good excuse to drink the wine. For $25, I'll be looking to grab at least 6.

Opened not decanted. Purple red color. Deep nose of over ripe fruit. Soft and approachable, yet has the tanins to keep it together. Very good QPR for Stags Leap District Cab.

Garnet color, moderate intensity, slight bricking. Aroma has dark fruits, raisin, and dark earthy notes. Moderate complexity.
Flavor has good fruit, raspberry, cherry, plum. Medium body, medium finish. Little tannins, smooth into the finish.

Cedar, tobacco, blueberry notes, with a little heat. Slightly tannic with a quick finish. Pleasant pairing with a simple dinner of tortellini with marinara.

Dark red/purple color. Great nose of sweet cassis and some chocolate along with a definite mineral edge. It's great on the palate with chocolatey flavors, balanced oak, some tart acid and a moderately tannic finish. This lingers long on the tongue. I find this wine exceptionally balanced with sweet, spice, herbal, and oak flavors, pleasing acidity and tannin that is there but doesn't bite. This is a gem for the money. 90pts.

Deep red color, almost purple. This has a tremendous nose of sweet cassis with great minerality tending toward herbal but not green. Very young in the mouth this wine has great deep fruit with a little spicyness, a touch of chocolate and black licorice. The finish is terrific and long, but this is still pretty tight.

I love this wine, and would give it 92+pts with aging potential. It is a QPR A and I will buy a case to stick away. This reminds me more of bordeaux than of cali cab (which is why I like it so much). There's none of that sweet syrupy oak that cheap Cali cabs usually throw at you, this one is all class!

An abundant but focused core of fruit, and a wine of serious length. Great value for $21
