the nose is pretty but subdued, there is that darkness of blackberries mixed with flowers in the palate, acidy is there and needs to calm down this wine still needs someside ways time, might of hit a semi closed down state [especially after seeing my older note]

day2: mellowed a bit, diferent dont know if better but

Conc: Wait a year or two

Not a huge nose on this, but the syrah component stands out in the bouquet. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel, rich, and complex.
I had my first bottle of this in the summer. It was so acidic, even after being open 3 days, that I was not looking forward to trying another. Well, I think that first bottle was flawed (I can't imagine 8 months would make that much difference). This is a wonderful wine.

Hazy notes from last night. This quite dark in colour, with a lovely, bold nose. Nicely concentrated wine, with nice complexity from the syarh/cab combination, with the syrah dominating but the cab bringing in structure and blackfruit notes to the mainly redfruits and funky tar notes on the full bodied, plush palate. Lovely now, but will last several more years easily (A-). Glad I have a few left!

Hazy notes from last night. Popped and poured, this drank very well again, similar notes to the last bottle. Very suave, polished and plush, but not too modern or too smooth, with some nice funky and earthy notes on a concentrated, nicely structured.long finish. Lovely now, but will last years (A-).

Beautiful and Big- concentratated and expressive. Big black fruit on nose with minerals under tones. The palate follows suit with rich blackberries, ripe bing cherries, quartz stones with leathery rich currents. Black pepper with horse saddle leads to an lengthy enjoyable finish. Could even use 4 more years, but drinking fine with lamb rack complement.

Always a favorite, this is a 75/25 Syrah/cab blend from Walla Walla. Rocks nuances without too much funk. The blend is deftly handled by the winemaker, with an overall smooth and seamless, classy, flavor profile. More please. Drink over the next 3 years if you’re lucky enough to be holding.

Off the charts. Aged beautifully with perfect balance of fruit, tannin, and earth. There’s some crunch here and some clear savory notes. Spicy cinnamon and crushed blackberries. Wow wow Wow.

Wafts of black pepper, silt, cinnamon and cayenne spice. Fresh boysenberry, white tea leaves, orange peel and black pepper flavors are met with slate-like minerality. Endeavors a glycerin complex finish without heat. Subdued depth, but bright and well balanced.

Walla Walla Holiday Barrel Tasting 2010; 12/3/2010-12/5/2010 (Walla Walla, WA): An even effort, nothing too distinct either way about this syrah yet. I think it'll improve with some time, but it's hard to get past the oak on this one. Just so-so. Especially when you compare with other notable Champoux wines, like Fidelitas, which is a shining star.

Pale gold core, watery rim. Nose: obvious oak masking citrus zest. Palate: dry, moderate acidity and more oak turning bitter on the finish. Shame about the oak. Disappointing wine.

at first a little watered down apple juice on the nose, but moved on to show some hay/straw but not a very strong nose. could be ok. wine was an easy drinker. left some residue in my glass which was fine with me, but a little interesting as this does not usually happen with most whites. a good wine if you can get it at the correct price.

Was excited when I saw this on the store shelf. I'm always on the lookout for good $10-$15 whites for easy summer drinking. This was a nice pale yellow and had initial aromas of pear, baked apple, spice, and toast. I was a bit confused as the one major thing that enticed me to puchase this wine was the blurb that stated this was 100% oak free and I'm not sure that's correct. Creamy and custard-y in the mouth, but not overly so. Nice layers of grapefruit and fig but I just couldn't get past the cream and lack of acid. Maybe 100% semillon is not my thing. I run into the same problem with most viognier, not enough acid for me. The finish had an unpleasant bitterness, so I didn't even finish the bottle. Technically a well-made wine, but not in my wheelhouse. 84pts.

I opened this after work on 10/23/10. It had a pleasant bouquet of honeysuckle, pear, smoke, spice and orange zest. The palate was creamy but with a slight sharpness…flavors of pear, apple, mineral, orange zest and spice. It also finished a little bitter.

C: Med Lemon, Noticeable Sediment
A: Clear, Med+ Nose
Rich Pear, Spice, Apple, Tropical notes, floral, custard, opening up with Melons
T: Dry, Med Acid, Med+ body, med intensity, med+ finish, med+ alc
Custard, some apples, and interesting bitterness

Conc: This wine has a good mid palate, it is missing something, maybe like hunter semillion it needs bottle age to be awesome, which I can see this being, has good structure
