8/24/2013 - Weston3220 Likes this wine: NRthe nose is pretty but subdued, there is that darkness of blackberries mixed with flowers in the palate, acidy is there and needs to calm down this wine still needs someside ways time, might of hit a semi closed down state [especially after seeing my older note] |

10/17/2014 - JohnSh wrote: 92 pointsHazy notes from last night. This quite dark in colour, with a lovely, bold nose. Nicely concentrated wine, with nice complexity from the syarh/cab combination, with the syrah dominating but the cab bringing in structure and blackfruit notes to the mainly redfruits and funky tar notes on the full bodied, plush palate. Lovely now, but will last several more years easily (A-). Glad I have a few left! |

Very suave, polished and plush, but not too modern or too smooth, with some nice funky and earthy notes on a concentrated, nicely structured.long finish. Lovely now, but will last years (A-). |

3/2/2017 - Scottlmatthews wrote: 93 pointsBeautiful and Big- concentratated and expressive. Big black fruit on nose with minerals under tones. The palate follows suit with rich blackberries, ripe bing cherries, quartz stones with leathery rich currents. Black pepper with horse saddle leads to an lengthy enjoyable finish. Could even use 4 more years, but drinking fine with lamb rack complement. |

7/10/2019 - Magnolian Likes this wine: 92 pointsAlways a favorite, this is a 75/25 Syrah/cab blend from Walla Walla. Rocks nuances without too much funk. The blend is deftly handled by the winemaker, with an overall smooth and seamless, classy, flavor profile. More please. Drink over the next 3 years if you’re lucky enough to be holding. |

I think it'll improve with some time, but it's hard to get past the oak on this one. Just so-so. Especially when you compare with other notable Champoux wines, like Fidelitas, which is a shining star. |

4/20/2010 - Jared wrote: 84 pointsWas excited when I saw this on the store shelf. I'm always on the lookout for good $10-$15 whites for easy summer drinking. This was a nice pale yellow and had initial aromas of pear, baked apple, spice, and toast. I was a bit confused as the one major thing that enticed me to puchase this wine was the blurb that stated this was 100% oak free and I'm not sure that's correct. Creamy and custard-y in the mouth, but not overly so. Nice layers of grapefruit and fig but I just couldn't get past the cream and lack of acid. Maybe 100% semillon is not my thing. I run into the same problem with most viognier, not enough acid for me. The finish had an unpleasant bitterness, so I didn't even finish the bottle. Technically a well-made wine, but not in my wheelhouse. 84pts. |
