3/19/2023 - SMHalps Likes this wine: 94 pointsI thought I had drank all my bottles, but low and behold I found 2 in my cellar that were not on my CT inventory! I brought this to a Syrah night with my wine group at a NYC Steakhouse. It was opened, but not decanted for 45 minutes before pouring. Full bodied with a long finish, it was the hit of the night. Lots of spice to go with some fruit and some tannic structure. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

3/10/2018 - SMHalps Likes this wine: 91 pointsMy last bottle. Opened, but not decanted for 90 minutes before pouring. Nice wine, medium finish. But I was slightly disappointed. I don't think it has aged well as it has lost a lot of fruit without picking up the secondary aged flavors I was expecting. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

À attendre plusieurs années, ou à carafer de longues heures... 1 person found this helpful, do you? 2/17/2014 - dead puddle Likes this wine: 90 pointsSki in Okanagan valley with Le Vieux Pin winemakers. (Osoyoos, BC, Canada): Blind tasting. decanted one hour. Very nice expression of a pure and feminin syrrah. Dark hue. Mouth fresh, crunchy red fruits, spices, violet. An elegant style. Excellent. But not as the nobleness and complexity level of Jean Louis Chave. 90 Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

12/21/2014 - Puteljen! wrote: 89 pointsA good syrah in a cooler, lighter style. Elegant, well balanced with good fruit, medium+ acid and an excellent mineral feeling. Lacks complexity and depth to be truly great, but very good for its level and price-point. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

5/13/2018 - MicklethePickle Likes this wine: 90 pointsPopped and poured. Remarkably drinkable at 7 years of age. Yes it is an opaque blood red ruby, but the nose shows lots of lovely red fruit with iodine and iron. Really quite accessible in the mouth too, although it is the fragrance that really shows this wine's true potential. Rather feminine at this point. Wow. Surprising. 4-13-15-8: 90/100. |

11/1/2017 - aChave wrote: 92 pointsYouthful, power-packed at this point. Strong bouquet of dark raspberry and black fruit with an emerging middle ground of clean acidity and some good tannic structure. Very primary, but very approachable now. Big for a 2011. Should really hit its stride in 3-5 years and last well beyond. |

9/16/2022 - JWG wrote: 93 pointsThis is aging so beautifully and has no indication of going off its peak. In fact this is markedly better than the last couple of outstanding bottles. Nose is redolent of berries, smoke. Palate is super-juiced syrah fruit and violets and some spice lengthening out the flavors. |

6/13/2015 - Omar Khayyam wrote: 85 pointsThe nose is showing some budding complexity. But the fruit is fading and a short, quite bitter, finish detracts. Day two this negative side to the wine is even more pronounced and we didn't finish the bottle in the end. I am a little perplexed as I have had a few of these Yann Chave C-H Le rouvre from recent vintages and have until now always found them to be extremely good value and right up my alley. Maybe it's an off bottle. but it will be interesting to see if this wine stands the test of time or if it normally should be drunk in its youth. |
