11/11/2012 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 87 pointsBlacks and blues on the nose, with a healthy dose of cedar box. Also some menthol on the nose. This wine is medium bodied and lively on the tongue. The red fruits really dominate, and the oak is obvious but not thick. Midpalate is a bit shallow, which leads to a short finish. I'm fine with this at $27, but I'd be disappointed had I paid $40. |

12/13/2015 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 88 pointsthis was a nice surprise as my expectations for Malbec has eroded lately. Baked red fruits on the nose, influenced with oak to a precipitous point. Palate is a bit tannic, fruity and candied, but bearable. Important to serve this chilly, it helps hide the flaws. |

3/15/2010 - Sauvyfan wrote: 77 pointsUpon initial quaffing, I thought it had an interesting nose though I could not put my finger on what made it distinct. Glass to lips ended the curiosness. This is THE most over-oaked wine I have ever had. So much so, I almost want to give the benefit of a doubt and say it was a bottle variation, but I'll never know because I will never buy another. Just one man's opinion, but how do they sell so much of this stuff? I'm reading the other comments and I just can't believe I had the same wine as these people. Do you find this review helpful? 2/9/2010 - Sauvyfan wrote: 87 pointsOpaque deep purple in appearance.Candied sweet Marichino cherry, and vanilla on the nose with a vegitative quality lurking in the backround. Excellent body and structure for the price. Lush black and red raspberry; a bit of oak and vanilla on the palate. Solid length and finish. |

10/6/2012 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 91 pointsReally tight upon opening, recommend a decant. On day two this was much more approachable but still big. Blackish color with royal purple rim, glistening. Black fruits dominate, with a touch of heat on the nose. The palate is lush and awash in dark red berries with a boysenberry finish. No heat on the palate. Lengthy finish. Definate "new world" in style, but well done. A steal from Costco at $20. |

9/15/2011 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 89 pointsRed berry compote on the nose, with a splash of oak. The palate shows a medium bodied, lively mix of red and blue fruit with a vanilla note through the midpalate transition. A mouthwatering finish that has some length to it. Quite a pleasure to drink, though lacking complexity. Would be a real steal under $20. |

1/11/2011 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis was a real headscratcher. I loved the unique nose, though I could not put it into words. The structure was excellent; balanced, soft and full of stone fruit. Well coopered. Great QPR. |

3/15/2010 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 87 pointsBright cherry and red raspberry on the nose, (poured through a Vinturi). A kiss of oak rounds out this nicely acidic red fruit-forward Malbec. It drinks very much like an Italian Dolcetto. Very judicious in its infusion of French oak, but the fruit is front and center. Medium bodied, nicely structured and good length on the finish. Very enjoyable, and appropriately priced. |

8/31/2020 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 92 pointsnose is reticent, with notes of strawberry, blackberry, and a hint of rhubarb. Plenty of acidity across the tongue makes me confident that this wine still has many years ahead of it, but is quite enjoyable today. Black fruit prevails on the finish, which is lengthy and balanced. |

12/23/2014 - Sauvyfan wrote: 92 pointsstunning wine upon opening. Bursting with a well balanced bouquet of black and blue fruit, and some cigar box. Dynamite with grilled Strip Steak. As the hours passed some of the nose blew away leaving a wine driven more by its structure and minerality, than its fruit. |

4/27/2011 - Sauvyfan wrote: 86 pointsHuge wine with very aggresive tannins; but with the fruit to back it up. Hard to believe that six years on would be too soon for this wine, but alas it was at its best on day three. Tannins still showing, but the fruit was at least able to compete. Blackberries for days. Kinda feel like I'm sucking on a plum pit. A little bitter. Had this on three consecutive days and I don't think it was appealing on any of them. Funny, I love Malbec and I love Merlot; yet they managed to blend them into a wine I cannot recommend. |

3/26/2011 - Sauvyfan Likes this wine: 90 pointsNose of cedar, pine needles, and blackberries. Vibrant, and juicy. The palate is full of black fruit. Medium bodied, suculant mid-palate, well structured with an adequate mouth puckering finish. Great QPR. Beware. There is a lot of terrible Malbec out there. This is not one of them. |
