9/25/2022 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRBig smooth and powerful. I’m not used to these types of wines and initially found the vanilla note overwhelming although it did recede after 3 hours open. Enough acidity to drive it forwards and good length as well. |

9/29/2022 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRLots to recommend it, crunchy red fruit Grenache typicity, with Aussie smooth opulence added on top. Thought there may have been too much residual sugar on day one- day two didn’t give me the same impression. Oak notes fully integrated and added to the mouthfeel and structure very nicely- toasty warmth rather than any vanilla notes. Decent table wine for grenache lovers like me! |

1/6/2021 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRDelicious medium bodied Grenache. High more-ish acidity and pure fruit- raspberries and zero oak. Great with a plate of cheeses and gluggable. Very pure fruit, nothing complex, recommended easy-drinker. |

12/19/2020 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRThis is a lovely thing from Fleet! Cabernet Sauvingnon refined elegant and leafy, zero oak, cassis but not a crazy fruit bomb. Great! |

5/24/2024 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRReally enjoyed this- but was having too much fun to take notes. I do recall thinking it had some notes that I associate with “ma petit Francine” a cab franc from Yarra I recall very fondly. Must be a terroir note given the different grapes. Would definitely buy again. |

12/8/2022 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRCrowd pleaser. Big rich perfumed nose, broad fruit forward palate, spiced, dark fruit but with a graphite edge and well integrated wood- no vanilla note at all. High acidity and med plus finish. I’d like to see where this goes with age- it has stuffing and structure. For me a highly enjoyable and very drinkabke Aussie Shiraz. |

5/18/2022 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRCellar defender, screw cap. I’d read good things about this Italian-owned Bulgarian Merlot. On opening the heat of the 14% overwhelmed the enjoyment- feels very recently bottled. Not really happy with it. Forgot to go back the next two nights but this evening it’s a lot more balanced with good merlot typicity- spice, damson and good freshness still evident. It is too alcoholic even now- the heat is lower but still unbalanced. No issues at the price point- but not especially good value. Maybe the fact it’s better on day 4 means it needs a year or so to rest? Fruit day today, flower day when opened. |

7/20/2023 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRSo-so to bang average on day one. Boring, fruity and showing nothing. Stoppered, vacuvined and forgotten. 3 days later this is on mineral Bordeaux territory- graphite, leather, star anise, cassis |

3/17/2022 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRI couldn’t keep my nose out of this- savoury, balsamic, leafy and profound. The palate didn’t quite live up to it, but I did enjoy the tannins and the savoury character balancing that merlot freshness. Really good value, but probably not likely to go the long haul as the secondary characteristics are already really on show here, and they elevate this significantly. Drink now and for another 3-4 years. Fruit day. |

11/11/2022 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRGreat drop! First glass from an already open bottle- fully tertiary saddle leather, cigar box, lovely old merlot. Second glass from a newly opened bottle and the added fruit- damson purple stone fruit brightness brought this to life in ways I hadn’t even hoped for. Good value and perfect to pop n pour. |

12/21/2022 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRFrom half bottle- exactly what I was looking for as a midweek drinker. Lovely clear typicity which will certainly gain in complexity and interest but with these smooth tannins, acidity, graphite dark fruits and and more-ish finish there’s plenty of quaffable pleasure in its youth. |

2015 Château ArnauldHaut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend more |
3/31/2024 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRThis was really delicious- hugely overperformed against its price and status. No detailed note but recall it delivering a wonderful nose, deep fruit and complexity from bottle aging of a far greater appellation in Bordeaux. Enjoyable from first to last sip (had been slow ox’d for a few hours prior to serving). Would buy again without hesitation. |

2/17/2022 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRAccidental cellar pull- far too nice for a regular Thursday night really. Juicy, poised, leaning more Merlot than Cab Sauv despite the percentages of each being almost equal with a bit of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot elongating the spectrum. Fresh and quaffable but enjoyably secondary notes on the nose as well. A wine that I’m informed is intended for drinking young. I agree on tonight’s showing- a real crowd pleaser with no chance of seeing what it’s like on a second night! |

12/17/2023 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRMuch better on day 2 when the body had fleshed out and the tertiary notes on the palate matched the wonderful nose from opening. Especially good with the cheese board. |

5/13/2023 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRThis was actually really good- popped and poured and it’s good to go. Really nice leafy aromatic nose. Freshness and pauillac typicity. Integrated tannins and very drinkable, especially to accompany food. |

1/14/2023 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NR2 hour decant- rich nose of cassis and saddle leather. Good backbone of fruit, tannin and medium acidity. A medium length and freshness of finish with suggestion of mint. Delivered on my expectations- plenty of immediate pleasure after the decant had done its trick. Can’t see this evolving much more positively- likely to be at peak (subject to bottle variation). |

4/7/2023 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRWowee! On a night that had an 09 chateau figeac, an 18 La Turque and some great volnays and gevrey chambertins this stood head and shoulders above. Depth of terroir with acidity and fruit in balance to create a sensation in the mouth. Decades left in the tank and plenty of upside but nonetheless an absolute privilege to enjoy at this stage. |

2019 Domaine Crêt des Garanches Brouilly Préférences d'OlivierGamay more |
8/5/2021 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRThis was really good value- a floral nose with violets, red berry fruit, fresh acidity and stem influence within the fruit. Some mild tannins giving grip but quaffable without food too. This a great everyday drop. |

3/11/2023 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRDescribed as “gourmand” in the restaurant. No formal note. A wine with huge sapidity! The classic juicy morello cherry notes and from the region with a light tannin structure that made this extremely food friendly. Really accentuated the smokey notes of the salmon dish and had enough acidity to stand up to the lamb main. Excellent juice and a reminder for me of the pleasures that can be found in the more humble appellations. |

11/19/2023 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRReally enjoyable for its level- great qpr. Lively, zippy, crunchy red fruits and decent length. Extremely quaffable. Definitely will have further upside from cellaring but no need for it. |

11/1/2021 - ShakinSwedens wrote: NRHeld up well over two days- drier tannins towards the end being the only downside I experienced. Great quality price ratio, typical NSG bouquet described very well in the notes below- I noted additionally gentle touches of girolle mushroom on day one and some soft leather on day two. Complex for its level- this is a well made wine at the perfect stage of evolution for my tastes. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

6/14/2021 - ShakinSwedens Likes this wine: NRBetter on day two by far- the nose more honeysuckle floral and the oak lending a subtle perfume. The finish was also longer, a mineral chiselled lime lingering. Superb with a rich carbonara- cutting through the guanciale, pepper and egg yoke beautifully. |
