Not quite as hot on the throat as the 15° would imply, it is quite well balanced. Still youthful, I would expect this to improve. I liked the fact that the sheen and class of the wine are allied to a strong sense of typicity. You've got to like this sort of wine and I don't, one glass was quite enough for me, but others will certainly enjoy it more: this is for lovers of strong Rhone cuvees. |

3/5/2023 - Julian Marshall wrote: 87 pointsDisappointing. I don't know if this is typical of the wine since I had never tried it before, but it is so dry as to be positively flat and boring. Perfectly drinkable and not unpleasant, it does have some good citrus notes on the attack but then it rather fades off into the distance. It just lacks freshness and complexity - which is rather a lot. |

9/26/2019 - Julian Marshall Does not like this wine: 60 pointsJoined the ranks of the most unpleasant wines I've ever tasted. Very rich and alcoholic at 14°5, some currants, but mostly of the dried variety and with more than a hint of raisin, plus a little kirsch on the finish. I bought this out of curiosity after RMP gave it a good review but I should really have known better. Absolutely revolting - I managed two sips before pouring it into the sink. |

7/27/2013 - Julian Marshall wrote: 87 pointsFor fans of La Tour Carnet this is an excellent alternative (probably why B.Magrez sold it). Oaky, soft forward fruit, full of ripe cassis and melted chocolate. Not much of a sense of terroir but at this price who cares? |

12/28/2020 - Julian Marshall Likes this wine: 92 pointsAromas of redcurrants, cranberry, with some leather and a touch of mint, then a surprisingly complex blend of flavours, starting with blackcurrant and blackberry, but then branching out in all directions with waves of raspberry, redcurrant, cranberry and some wild strawberry on the finish. A "neither/nor" sort of wine, this is neither Left nor Right Bank in style, like a blend of a Margaux and a Loire red, with the former's elegance and the latter's freshness, but with a variety of flavours that belong to neither. It knocked several CCs for six, with its effortless cool class. |

2/5/2018 - Julian Marshall Likes this wine: 85 pointsPlump, fulsome and charming with good volumes of ripe fruit, mainly plum and blackcurrant and a well-rounded finish. A timely reminder of why Bordeaux can be so good at this sort of wine. No great complexity yet but for 4€ this offers great value. |

11/6/2022 - Julian Marshall wrote: 85 pointsLike the 2012, this has an enticing bouquet of redcurrant and cranberry, with a little blackberry and leather, then a decent attack of blackcurrant and blackberry, but unlike the 2012, it then rather peters out, with somewhat muted waves of redcurrant and wild strawberry, and a slightly green finish. Quite attractive, but nothing special. It cost me 18 euros at auction, which was already a lot, and at the normal price of 25€, not very good value. 85 pts |

10/2/2023 - Julian Marshall Does not like this wine: 80 pointsNot really unpleasant but not my kind of wine. It used to belong to Magrez and the style hasn’t really changed: soft fruit, a little on the flabby side, low acid and lashings of oak, with for me a very noticeable 14% ABV. Each to their own but even for a paltry 6 euros I’d rather spend 5 more and get something decent. As if RMP still ruled the roost but I’m not sure he would have liked this. |

Plump and buxom, with blueberry, plums, then wild strawberry and a little leather to even out the taste. Good stuff. |

9/16/2014 - Julian Marshall Likes this wine: 86 pointsGood, reliable, cheap: a perfect weekday wine, but one which would probably surprise a few in a blind tasting. Attractive raspberry and red cherry flavours, with a second wave of blackberry and vanilla, then a decent, rounded finish. This would be fine at 12/13€, but it costs 4€. |

3/16/2016 - Julian Marshall wrote: 82 pointsFor 5€ you get what you pay for: bright, uncomplicated fruit, quite smooth, with hints of leather and herbs. 2010 being 2010, you also get 14°5 alchohol: even if the high acidity attenuates the effect, the finish is hot and full of kirsch. Whether or not this is a problem is entirely a matter of opinion, but when one thinks of what could have been done in 82, 90 or even 00, well, it's a bit of a shame. |
