6/30/2020 - Fausto_Coppi Likes this wine: 98 pointsMed cherry red with clear/brick red meniscus. Bouquet is oaky with mature red fruit elements. Palate of mature red cherry and damson with underlying vanilla and cinnamon flavours. An incredibly well preserved and well balanced wine with a rich finish. |

1/14/2011 - Patrick - winereviewer.com.au wrote: 97 pointsStraw yellow in colour, the nose jumps from the glass with lime, toffee and some slight kerosene characters, the palate is balanced and shows great depth of fruit, with a wonderful intricate mineral acidity running throughout the complex and developed palate. The palate shows citrus, burnt butter and sour edged stone fruit, the finish is long, complex and excellent |

6/19/2021 - SixHedgehogs Likes this wine: 97 pointsRhone / Barossa Comparisons (London): Dark red. Spicy aroma. Really bright cherry fruit, luscious texture, but with a lightness and delicate touch of acidity. Mellow, earthy, spicy aftertastes. Exquisitely balanced. Interesting to taste after a 94 Hermitage. This was the lighter wine. Not decanted, but bottle opened for two hours in advance. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

2/18/2011 - bn26 wrote: 96 pointsAlmost green colour. Miraculous front palate, full bodied but with no phosphorous notes. at all. The 'riesling' kerosene hints are far enough back to be beatifully balanced, the wine practically explodes on the back palate with vibrant citrus and mineral finish. Just amazing. |

7/23/2011 - WinoTim wrote: 96 pointsProbably best wine I've ever experienced. Rich, velvety red with complex, multi-leveled structure that some in our group called chewy. Definitely benefits from decanting from both an aeration and sediment point of view. I think mrpalmer's comments that this wine is beyond it's prime was due to his wine being improperly stored at some point (my condolences). Consensus of our group was that the wine could easily go another 3-5 years. I am very jealous of Michelvl who has had the pleasure of tasting this wine multiple times with, undoubtedly, several tastings more in his future. |

10/10/2012 - azzah wrote: 96 pointsThis is just a beautiful, beautiful riesling. Light yellow in colour. Lemon, limes, bath salts, white flowers, honey and a hint of petrol on the nose. In the mouth there's lemons, limes, grapefruit, honey, toast and a slatey minerality. Long and intense and refreshing. Complexity plus. Significantly better than the 2001 and 2003 from my tastes. Has years left but sooo good now. |

9/8/2007 - DAN BAILEY wrote: 96 pointsOpened and decanted (riedel pomerol jug) then drunk from riedel shiraz glasses over the following 2 hours. Explosive attack of vibrant, sharp red/dark fruits really grabs your attention. Seamless follow through on a luscious midpalate and long, seductive finish. Absolutely fabulous! Not the most complex wine but utterly hedonistic without being unbalanced or overripe in any way. Worth every single precious Parker point and a little bit more! |

6/12/2010 - therashman wrote: 96 pointsThis was my last bottle....it was absolutely stunning....it took at least three hours of decanting and then taste was absolutely sensational...not so strong fruit, smooth....peppery, spicy....tasted so very refined and choclate like....better than I expected, very french vintage bordeaux like, wish I kept a couple of bottles from this batch...at least got couple of years left for sure...tell you what when i first bought a case of this driving from the snowy mountains en route to sydney (stopped in canberra) I was quite casual about purchasing this case many many moons ago...but I certainly took notice of its presence on my palate some 12 years later! |

4/12/2020 - Rob-Rah Likes this wine: 96 pointsEaster during Covid lockdown. I wondered what this was like now. Decanted. Dark mahogany, and mostly opaque. Bouquet with a telltale eucalyptus to tell you this isn't Portugal. It smells like vintage port and nicely ripe sweaty Oz syrah together. Palate has a lot of zesty acids - thank goodness. Nice bones and structure there. Not a flabby sweet pudding. This is actually very comparable to vintage port in character and stature. The flavour profile is skewed towards sweat and raspberry due to the syrah for sure, but it's all figs and raisins and honeyed herbs too. Kind of fresh and yet mature. Long and complex. More Fonseca than Taylor, in terms of style. The flavour is unique. This is really very good indeed! Perhaps a tiny touch spirity at the end, but that is a quibble. Damn, why didn't I buy loads of this back in the 90s??? |
