On the palate, I found a stunningly textural wine, like pour silk, ushering in notes of savory cherry sauce, cranberry and mulling spice, which all seemed to coat the senses as a zing of acidity neatened up the back palate. It's youthful tannin only made an appearance through the dry finish, as tart red fruits and mineral-tinged spice lingered on a structural framework. 4 people found this helpful, do you? It's essentially a de-classified Riserva the brothers release as a Vino da Tavola. Ruby red. The aromas here have more spice, less pronounced floral and jammier fruit than the '11 Barolo Cascina Dardi tasted side-by-side. The palate is also more round and fleshy, but the fruit remain fresh with good acidity. Suave tannins beneath the fruit. Outstanding stuff that will age. 94-96 |

Unlike ten years ago, this wine is now very easy to drink, smooth and pure fruit juice. Dark fruit predominates with hints of leather and tobacco. Not a hint of oxidation or other signs of age. I suggest an hour of air. It still tasted great the next day. |
