Syltig doft av svarta vinbär och björnbär. Kraftfull men rund smak. Känns på sin "peak" just nu. Underbar!

Decanted for 5 hours then funneled back into it's bottle: A nose earth and wet wood, dark fruits, dark chocolate and some rosemary, also a hint of green olive. So delicate, the tannins are now completely relaxed and dissolve leading into the mid-palate. Subtle brighter fruits on the palate than the nose, some earth and wood smoke, no edges whatsoever. The drying acid doesn't come on until 5-10 seconds into the finish and is very gentle. Overall everything about this wine is gentle, the flavor, the nose, the tannins and acid. Excellent wine, drinking beautifully now, 91 points.

Double decanted. Dark garnet red, yellow rim, some particles as well :-( shame on the decanting master. Marvelous complex bouquet, ripe red fruits, farmyard, sweet flowers...... Harmonious on the palate, pronounced tannins that matched the stew fine. Drink now - 2014

Opened 2 hours prior. Medium garnet, rim is clearing with some bricking, suspended sediment. Dark fruit compote with a metallic note. Round entry, crescendoes into high toned cherry dominated midpalate with some ultra fine tannins on the long final. Acidity relatively prominent.

Because of the fine tannin signature and acidic character I'd advise drinking this with food. Tonight it paired very well with pulled pork off the bbq. More feminine than many a Priorat, but try as I may I do not find any evidence whatsoever of minerality in this wine tonight.

Notes from memory. Opened 1 hour prior. Dark garnet. High toned cherry bouquet follows through on mid-palate which is deep and cedar inflected. Moderate to long final.

Well balanced and complete, enjoyed very much. Still has at least 3-4 years in front of it but I doubt there is much further upside.

Wine Education Service - Priorat and Monsant (LSE): Almost transparent, some age.
A caramel and slightly vegetal nose.
Some oak in the attack, fruity and juicy in the mid palate, quite long, drinking beautifully.

Last of these. Overall I found these to be less balanced and a bit prickly. This is a high toned, almost shrill wine that leans more towards a light bodied, cherry dominated interpretation of Grenache than most Rhone counterparts. Think Nerello Mascalese rather than a deep, full bodied southern Rhone. There is complexity and a charm to be sure, but I would not buy this again.

This bottle was surprisingly backward, with a strong tannic element alongside the expected mineral streak. Fruit was still quite powerful, and I am sure there was no cork taint. Based on this experience, I'd say the wine could keep for several years pretty easily, but I won't discount my previous tasting experience where this wine showed elegance and maturity. I guess your mileage may vary.

Decanted 2 hours served at 14C. Notes from memory. Deep purple with sediment. Maraschino cherry, leather, some barnyard, acetone and alcohol on the nose. Round attack with smooth, velvety tannins. Waves of cherry, caramel and garrigue wash over the palate and build alongside gently drying tannins and acidity towards a long final. A bit of excess heat on the final, but otherwise this shows wonderful balance.

This wine comes from very old vine grenache, and the resemblance to a fine southern Rhone wine is unmistakable, albeit this was far more elegant than many. Very nice, and I'll be looking forward to following these to around 2015.

Half hour decant. Dark garnet with a clearing rim and some suspended sediment. Some volatile notes on bouquet obscure the fruit. Suave wine. Very fine tannins, dark fruits mingling with a cherry laced acidity. Faint spice notes emerge late in the mid-palate. Medium to long final. Good balance and complexity, although the alcohol here (14.5% according to the bottle) leaves a little too much heat on the final particularly that throws out the balance.

Still, very enjoyable wine that has no hard edges apart from the alcohol. Acidity creates a lively, lifted wine that sparkles with food.

A very attractive nose, with lots of sweet black fruit, but of a very elegant refined type. Blackberry and hedgerow aromas. Round, open attack, immediately attractive. But then it's rather hollow with nothing but spicy tannins. Some good fruit returns on the finish, after the tannins have receded.
Actually this is an object lesson in over-analysing wines not being too great an idea: it works much, much better when drunk, rather than analytically tasting it.

This has aged gracefully and is delicate right now. Not the greatest wine for the pizza we made tonight, gentle tannins and acidity carry plum, prune, wet tobacco and oak flavor that dies a little on the mid-palate but leaves the flavor behind nicely. The acidity comes in two waves, initially in the mid-palate, disappears then hits about 5 seconds after the wine is swallowed. Very gentle. I wish this did have a bit more body, it is a bit thin on the palate. Other than that, a nice wine of obvious quality.

WES - Priorat & Monsant (LSE Holborn): Black. Vegetal nose with almost a saltiness. Surprisingly light on the palate, balanced but subdued - black sweet fruits still present on the farewell.

Mmm Priorat character, when you have it, it is so good. Dark purple-red, like a mint-chocolate over crimson velvet fruit. Doing well at this age even. Happy.
