WOTN as voted by our guests and paired with red shrimp pasta, this was an explosive tropical fruit mix of pineapple and mango with a lovely floral lift.

while consistent with notes of 7/4/2021, this moves up in estimation as the pairing really helped this wine shine. There was also an excellent compare/contrast with the Aubert CIX served side by side

4/11/2022 9:41:00 AM - Paired with salad of green asparagus tempura, compressed nectarine, grilled cucumbers, almond, hearts of romaine, green goddess dressing. The wine itself is quite delicate, like a Chablis with less acidity.

2/10/2014 8:00:00 PM - Barry, I also love the Romas and Piggot Range offerings. Mortiz is a great entry level wine from this producer, needs something well seasoned to stand up to its wild heart if enjoying with food.

My WOTN in a staggering selection of wines, with fig, grilled meat, olive, blackberry and scorched earth notes. 3 hour decant and in full display of its maturity.

12/5/2017 5:09:00 AM - as to full maturity - this should be ready now with a 1 hour decant, but my guess is 3-5 years will see this wine peak.

A good peppery syrah, plum and black olive. Has solid depth and length.

drank with Maria before heading to Fearing's in Dallas. Kosta Browne is my wife's favorite wine, and this bottle did not disappoint. A nose of raspberry and cherry, with hints of sage. Lush and full bodied, dark cherry, cola, mint swirl together and are supported by a touch of herb and graphite...tannins are firm but not obtrusive.

good currant and graphite flavors, but a little green on the finish

  • Comment posted by danielbleier:

9/22/2014 7:55:00 PM - this may get better in a few years, but I worry the lack of ripeness in the vintage will leave this wine short of its lofty history.

consistent with notes of 6-14-2012. However, on this occasion, this was a smooth pop and pour with all the positives of the last bottle and none of the overwhelming acidity. Great nose of plum, vanilla, and tar. the plum, peppercorn, asian spice and earth comes through in a lovely swirl.

8/5/2013 9:58:00 AM - For thesternowl- the first glass was on it's own, then enjoyed this with blackened redfish and a shrimp/polenta mixture. Powerful enough to stand up to spicy fare
For Harley1199 - I'd love to hold, looking for more as this was my last bottle.

Just awesome. Bouquet of flower, blueberry, earth, and graphite. Flavors of blackberry, plum, coffee, licorice and mint are added when tasted. Light and graceful vs. expectations. Flavors go on and on. This should last for 20 more years.

1/23/2014 9:46:00 AM - I decanted for ~3 hours, and did not try it before (prepping for a dinner). It was served and immediately worked...so no need to decant longer. It was fantastic, not sure it will get better, but it certainly has plenty of life for 10-20 years.

Part of a 2017 virtual tasting including Plumpjack, Odette, and Cade. Came in 3rd of 3 outstanding wines, this had the most balance - well constructed, showing red and black fruit with a mint heavy nose and a slightly herbal finish

11/10/2020 4:46:00 PM - Odette first, Cade then Plumpjack...I will say that all of these wines were truly worthy of praise. In the virtual tasting of 3 sets of friends, Odette was my wife and my favorite...the other 2 couples chose PJ.

1/22/2017 5:38:00 PM - "What a wine. It the fullness of its maturity, this offered a amazing balance of earth, tar, smoke and wet stone to counter the dark blackberry and cherry notes. The fact that this was the more subtle of the 2 wines I opened in the evening says about the Turley Petite we opened and does not diminish the power of this wine"
