2013 Accornero Barbera del Monferrato Giulinmore |
9/6/2016 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsFruit forward with plenty of balance with acidity and savory tannins on the back end. I know most bottles of Barbera are considered food wines but this one knocks it out of the park in that regard. |

2/6/2011 - TheBosWineGuy wrote: 89 pointsBought at a restaurant in Sydney for under $50. You can tell that this has some age to it as there was some brown on the edges while in the glass. This wine had the acidity, fruit, and minerality balance that I look for when choosing a wine with food. This bottle paired extremely well with steak and barbeque ribs. The dried cranberry finish left us wanting more. 89 - I wish I could find this somewhere. |

9/13/2019 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsAbsolutely beautiful Riesling with the perfect amount of age. Crystal clear acidity with a mineral floral component that really lifts it. Some nice petrol on the finish. Terrific with food and a very good value if you can get it for $20. |

12/15/2013 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsDelicious stuff with tons of minerality, passion fruit, and banana peel. Alcohol is a bit too high but there is enough weight to carry it. Smashes 95% of Chards out there. |

4/11/2024 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 95 pointsIncredibly round while offering tropical fruits with ample acidity and an almost floral sweetness. Further in the glass you’ll find a hint of smoke and a minerality that reminds me of wet seashells. The complexity is remarkable. The smoke note in particular was a revelation! |

2/24/2011 - TheBosWineGuy wrote: 88 pointsThis ticks all the boxes. Fragrant nose of herbs (thyme and bay leaves), crushed rock, and melon. The palate is very crisp with a full mid-palate of crushed rock, lemon-lime, and passion fruit. The minerality is a nice surprise and there is great acidity here. The finish is decent. I drank this at room temperature and there was no issue with the alcohol, which is a great sign for a sauvignon blanc. At the price I paid for this ($4), it's the best white QPR I've ever bought. |

3/22/2012 - TheBosWineGuy wrote: 87 pointsLasted 3 days, which is impressive for a $7 wine. Totally fruit driven, the oak adds a really nice smooth and easy drinking quality. Too fruity for me to enjoy on its own, it really sings with pasta and pizzas. |

2008 Bodegas Amaren Tempranillo Rioja Reserva 60more |
11/24/2018 - TheBosWineGuy wrote: 88 pointsA classic Rioja loaded, and I mean loaded, with American oak. There’s quite a good amount of acidity an fruit to balance it out and so this was a crowd pleaser. |

No formal tasting notes but I remember there being lots of nice minerality to this wine to complement the fruit. I love the style. 91+ ?? |

3/15/2017 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsI wasn't a huge fan of this wine on day one as I thought that it shared too much in common with fruit forward California Cab Francs but it really opened up and on the 3rd day the stewed red fruit darkened and more of the Sangiovese came forward and I got more mineral and earth as well. I'm holding my remaining two bottles. |

2016 Ampeleia UnlitroToscana IGT Red Blend more |
4/8/2019 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 87 pointsDefinitely worth trying if you can find it for $15 or under. Dominated by sourness and low astringency making it fairly easy to pair with quite a few foods. It has characteristics of a field blend with the Grenache flavors standing out the most. I respect what they’re trying to do here. |

3/2/2016 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsI agree completely with 'MBusk.' Having visted the tasting room in CA I can also attest to the fact that they have access to fantastic fruit and their winemaker has a distinct vision. Great stuff if you can find it. |

2/12/2012 - TheBosWineGuy wrote: 90 pointsDefinitely a big, new world style pinot. Very dark color with a strong nose of oak and candied red fruits. Great mix of sweet and savory on the palate, which is exactly what I'm looking for in a pinot. Noticeable oak influence and a touch of alcohol knock a few points off. Upon opening, it was disjointed and awkward. This, however, blew off after about an hour, which makes me think that it will rocking in 2-5 years time. Great stuff. |

9/10/2019 - TheBosWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsUSA vs France Tasting - Very good on its own but something about it kept from matching with the grilled tomahawk steak, which is really surprising. Not sure if it was a bitter chocolate type note that clashed. We loved the brambly berry flavors but there was something coarse about it in its old age. |

9/12/2012 - TheBosWineGuy wrote: 88 pointsJerkey and leather on the nose...maybe some wet hay. Very old-fashioned style (which suits me) paired with the big fruit/alcohol vintage. This made it a bit awkward on the first day. The wine got noticeably more balanced over the next 1-2 days. I can see where people would get the baby CdP from. It's a masculine wine for sure that will only be helped by a few more years in bottle. |
