2 hour decant, medium bodied, sweet fresh fruit up front, decent balance. Needs another 3-5 years.

On the eye the wine is translucent with a slightly black core and reddish brown rim. The wine projects aromas in layers showing cherries, raspberries, blackberries, licorice followed by wet earth, crushed river stones, cloves, and black pepper. Sweet red fruit flavors upon entry boasting maraschino cherries, raspberries, strawberries leading to blackberries and anise flavors on the mid-palate. The finish is long dominated by blackberries, spices, iodine, fresh acidity, and muscular tannins. A mid bodied wine with silky texture which hides its muscles, not your traditional Nuits St. Georges, however it has great sweet fruit, a long finish, although it lacks more concentration on the mid-palate.

The one adjective my dining companion used was "ethereal". My first thought was "fruit purity". The intoxicating nose seamlessly transitions to the bright red fruits that envelope the palate in silk. The flavors were authentic in a way I rarely find in Cali pinots. This was not cherry pie, or cherry cola. This was grazing perfectly ripe cherries at the farmer's market. The analogue in the culinary world would be a chef who starts with the freshest ingredients and then gets out of the way. The wine must have given us subconscious cues as we skipped the cheese course and opted for a plate of simply sauteed chanterelles that were a heavenly pairing. Burg aficionados may quible that this Echezeax is simplistic and lacks some of the depth and complexity of the finest Grand Crus. Perhaps. But, the components of the wine were so in balance with nothing out of place. In my opinion, this wine is "simple" in the same way that great risotto is "simply" cheese and rice. Consumed at Marche Moderne in Costa Mesa. Bottle purchased on release from Premier Cru.

Held since release to find it's riddled with VA. Going to take another look on night 2 as it was not at all approachable on this night. 13,5% abv

Aerated to decanter 1 hr, returned to bottle and served non-blind 2 hours later.

Very little nose. Brown limb. Taste is muted red fruit with nice acid and almost no tannin. Finish is very short.
I think it is past its prime.

During a Paulee tasting and dinner so only brief impressions. Very dense wine here, compact, tannic. The 15 last year was much more flamboyant. If you have this, dont open before 2030.

From Magnum. Great elegant colour, almost pale. Lovely layers of forest fruit on the nose, as well as spices, wood, hints of chocolate. On the palate again lots berry fruit, dark cherries, very round and gentle, quite long and very fine.

My first 05 red burg that stands up to the vintage hype. Dark cherry in color. Nice nose of cherry, spice and earth. Ready to drink smooth and balanced palate with no tannin. Cherry, raspberry, spice, licorice and earth. Should be good or better for many more years.

This was just about as perfect as a PN can get still with lots of time left. Decanted for an hour or more. Wonderful balance.
The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry, cherry, forest floor, cedar, oak and tobacco. It tastes like black currant (cassis), raspberry, cherry, dust, mineral, forest floor, cedar, oak and clove. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Open up for 45 mins, we open with another Gevery Chambertin 1er to compare

Appearance: pale ruby, with legs and petillance.

On nose: medium intensity, dark fruit : cherry but not fruit forward, the more u found is earthiness, liquorice, hint of tobacco, and truffle. The wine is developing and lovely going into maturation stage.

On palate : dry, medium+ acidity, sweet tannin, oakiness could be noticed, medium+ flavour intensity, medium body with medium alcohol. It is very similar to Gevery Chamberttin in blind tasting, good concentration but lack of the “sexiness” and it is in a more “matured style”. It seems that the grapes are grown in a longer sunlight terror. Like drinking an old tea but still comfortable with great elegancy.

This wine is a premium one. It makes a lot improvements after taking up by Devillard family. I believe that the vinyard still got potential in production of great wine. If you are looking for a Burgundy wine which is in a reasonable price with reliable quality, this won’t be disappointed.

Aromas of candied fruits, rose pedal and plum. Good acidity, raspberry, leather, earth and woods on the palate. This reminds me the image of Oregon pinot, not so much classic burgundy but still drinking beautifully.

Very slow and viscous legs here. I had Coravined this bottle probably two years ago, and there were no signs of oxidation whatsoever. The nose is quite open right off the bat. Dark cherries, chocolate and a hint of cola on the nose; the oak influence is pretty obvious. On the palate this is still quite well balanced and overall performing much better than my last bottle tasted in 2011 - very dark flavor profile, structurally very alive and kicking with good acidity and tannins on the finish, really long aftertaste reminiscent a bit of blood oranges. The mid-palate just has been robbed of some... beauty? Expressiveness of fruit? But I may open my last bottle of this with some Boeuf Bourguignon once the weather chills up some more.

1st of twelve. Opened less than
two hours in advance. On the label what I love the most is that concept of "quasi monopole". Fantastic that 99%. Pure, clean ten years old PN but pretty closed at first but, in contact with air, developing aromas of iron ore, black cherries or thyme. Among secondaries can be found flesh, sweet tobacco, beef, biscuits even. Some lactics from new oak too. On the palate showed mute at the beginning turning into something more savoury and defined, acid and watery. In my view quite short too
If compared with last Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot of this same vintage, this Perdrix Nuits has similar complexity, is more modern in style and in consequence woody and pretty acid so seems to be clearly younger even, I have to insist becoming from the same vintage. More uniformity here. Less surprises but a good to very good 1er Cru indeed but I am afraid, far away from what a hypothetical Nuits GC would represent. Anyway this tasting give me some confidence to keep my hands off their 2010 Echezeaux.

Shared in a group of 5, it didn't last long. Given how young this is it drank really well. Floral note up front with dark fruits. Not the most complex of wines, but very nice balance. Smooth tannins.

The color is translucent garnet with brilliant clarity. The smells are perfumed, floral, damp earth, dark cherry and raspberry. The tastes are cherry, sweet spices, tart raspberry, sassafras, peppery spice, rose, and clove. The finish is lengthy and the body is modest. The acidity is nice and the tannins are like a very fine dust. Nice and complex.

After less than three years, second of eleven (one was traded). Opened half hour before lunch. Crystal clear crimson colour with an aqueous edge. Freshly fleshy nose with notes of red berries and iron and anthracite. Also a vegetable blow, as chlorine pool. Complex and flagrant. On the palate the acidity still prevails over a medium-bodied texture. That same tomatoes acidity provides structure and a slightly tannic finish. Modern bottle. Definitely masculine. Final astringent that seems to need more time. No hurry. No worries.

On opening and first pour lots of funk on nose and palate. Afraid it might be corked. Little by little over time , about half hour, funk disappeared and beautiful fruit emerged. Nose and palate of cherry, raspberry, licorice and a nice earthy element. A little big, but nicely balanced and delicious. Last tried 3 years ago and this bottle slightly better despite the funk.
