Bought for Old Fashioneds but let’s dive in

Nose/Floral - cooked apple and peach
Sweet - vanilla and maple. French toast?
Nutty - walnut
Spicy - mild cinnamon
Earthy - anise, clove, black pepper and tobacco
Smoky - no
Woody - deep dark cedar with some funk
Fruit - same as nose
Color - intense amber
Palate - drinks under proof level, nice and pleasant
Finish - good, proof makes it stick around
Value - decent, $90 isn’t bad but a touch ambitious
Overall - I mean it’s Beam. Makes a good old fashioned due to high proof. At the price point you’re competing with Elijah Craig picks/barrel proof, four roses picks and Russell’s reserve picks in which company this would be slightly embarrassed. Still solid minus the Beam yeast funk I don’t love. Still good in Old Fashioneds

California 2023; 8/13/2023-8/22/2023: Hunter Double Blind Tasting
Sample 5 - much higher proof, searingly astringent. More modern. Some earth and licorice. Palate filling. Less nuance.

Bookers 30th - the heat builds but at first it doesn’t kill you. Most approachable Booker’s I’ve had.

Floral - no
Sweet - big time. Caramel city
Rich - especially the oak
Nutty - darker walnut
Spicy - cinnamon and heat
Earthy - no
Smoky - no
Woody - cedar and dark old oak central.
Fruit - less so
Palate - hot fire
Value - at retail. Solid. At secondary. Absurd.
Finish - will haunt my dreams

Floral - No, less fruit and spice on the nose
Sweet - a touch, but not in the high corn bourbon sense
Rich - caramel and creme brûlée
Nutty - Light pecan end of things
Spicy - Spice is there. Searing cinnamon. Vanilla and creamy.
Earthy - Negative
Smoky - negative
Woody - big oak. More oak. Oak for days. Cedar.
Fruit - apple & pear
Palate - holy shit that’s cask strength for sure, Jesus.

Tastes like a good bottle of standard Booker’s. Nothing special. Can I have my money back? Thankfully only a pour.

Easily my least favorite release. Oaky, brown sugar, vanilla and subdued complexity. Bookers is almost always bold and delicious, but this just didn't live up to the standard of other releases. Not a re-buy

Deep amber, orange hue
Lots of all spice, orange, vanilla, and oak off the nose
LOTS of initial heat. Burns deep, warm. You really feel it
Taste's like the nose. Bourbon aficionados and high proof lovers will love this. Not really my thing, but I can appreciate what I am drinking.
Perfect for a Bourbon sour.

I used to love this bourbon but the proofage comes across as rough to me these days. The corn body and finish is too heavy.

30th Birthday Party - Sitti - Raleigh (Sitti Raleigh): Bottle # 6815 - Solid stuff. Unbelievably hot, cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar. Finish is a scorcher. Worth $300/bottle + & Jim Murray's World Whisky of the year? I don't think so. Solid nonetheless? Sure, quite good whiskey.

N.V. Booker's (Jim Beam) Batch 2014-07 approx distillation date 2006-2007, 64.45%abv 7 year 7 mo 14 d in oak (USA, Kentucky)

Bought at Kroger, Piqua, 750 ml. Tasted from a Riedel Malt Glass. T-cork.

Tawny-white, an unusual burning yellow color, sheeting with a slow tearing.

Quite dumb until I added just a drop of 1913 spring water and it immediately cracked open and threw off lots of aroma. Nose is broad and harmonious, with a very subtle integrated corn silk and orange vanilla.

The intense, classically clear palate seems to swirl around in the mouth like a piece of Chihuly art glass. Vanilla and smoke mix with an attractive amount of heat into the emotive finish, and with a je-ne-sais-quoi holding it all in poise. One of the more perfect whiskies of this series I've tasted, with a fantastic glissade of sensations. 96/100. Hurrah!

Note: Tried it as a mixer with soda and lemon: Way too distinctive for this, don't waste it.

This bourbon took me by surprise. Although, I have a bottle in my collection, the first time I tasted it was last night, 6/13/14, at a local bar. Ordered a double served neat. The bartender generously filled my glass 3/4 of the way up. I was aware of the higher proofing so I was prepared for the heat but I was taken back by how well integrated and balanced this bourbon is. I don't recall doing a proper nosing, but I do remember brown sugar, cinnamon, caramel, dates, candied apricots, and honey notes in the flavor profile. It was a monster of a whiskey but very good all around. -94 points-

This is a mean, delicious bourbon. Intensely earthy and oaky with plenty of booziness and fire to remind you that it's nearly 130 proof. Wonderful stuff.

Sugar maple and fieldgrass on nose. Rich rye, cinnamon, and vanilla. Little hot, but great smooth body. Heather, rye, and sugar maple at finish. Love the higher proof playing with the semi-sweet coffee.
