9/30/2023 - calimo Likes this wine: 87 pointsWow, was this an awesome Primitivo. On the nose: some floral, but more earthiness and spice. maybe like a touch of dust on the nose. on the palate, a teeny tiny bit of funk, but smoothed out with spice, maybe pepper, dusty and earthy tannins that lasted a bit. maybe some sweet in the middle of my palate. There was magic with a smoked reverse seared ribeye steak, with a smoky rub that made the wine a touch sweeter in the interaction. wow. that was sublime. not at all jammy, but some blackberry on the palate. longer finish than expected. this primitiivo was heftier than expected. loved it. |

8/23/2023 - calimo Likes this wine: 85 pointsFantastic Pino Noir. Not funky at all on the nose, like most Pinots i've tasted. Sweet on the nose. Red fruit? Strawberry? On the Palate: yeah, strawberry and some spice, but not a lot of spice. On the finish: a little bit of tannins that makes it linger a bit....super nice. kinda like a light Zin. Makes me want to drink Pinot Noir more. At least more of this one. Thank you, Lloyd, for another amazing bottle! |

7/14/2023 - timewithwine wrote: NRA translucent candy apple red greets the eye; this is a pretty wine that eschews the often-heavy California extraction. The bouquet expresses bright cherry, sour cherry, orange zest, and wood. Not oak per se, but wood … decaying wood. Not forest floor which too is decay, but decaying wood. Much the same on the palate. The flavor is linear; unchanged from first to last sip. The mouthfeel is medium. The finish is short. The wine is not bad; there’s just no “there” there. No sediment. 14.6% alc. With broiled salmon under mustard crust for what would have been Mother’s 100th. 07.14.23. Recommended with reservations. |

12/15/2022 - timewithwine wrote: NRNice, pleasing black cherry. Crisp palate as if the acidity is higher here than most California Pinot Noirs. Dunno, just an observation. No real complexity or length. Probably a drink now wine; not likely to improve. |

12/21/2021 - calimo Likes this wine: 88 pointsWow. My partner and i have been wondering if Petite Sirah is our grape...this might be further evidence. On the nose: a little sweet and a little mineral-y, a little spicy. Some plum. Taste: smallest hint of sweet. Spice, spice, and pepper. Maybe a bit of smoke? Medium finish. Exhale. maybe a touch of smoke on the exhale. went really well with reverse seared smoked ribeye |

9/4/2018 - timewithwine wrote: NRThe flavor is pleasing but it is all over the spectrum: first strawberry, then peach, no, wait a minute, it’s melon .... eventually the flavor settles in as kool-aid. The wine is a touch out of balance with heat. Nevertheless, it’s refreshing and slurpable. Back to back with the Thomas-Labaille rosé from Sancerre. It doesn’t hold a candle to the Sancerre. 13.5% alc. With shrimp and corn cakes or chicken salad; can’t recall. Recommended. |

7/6/2018 - timewithwine wrote: NRA rather pastel pink. We opened two bottles of this wine. The bottle variation could not have been more distinct and different. The first bottle was dull and uninteresting and left me wondering why we thought this was worthy of purchase in the tasting room. The second bottle was a dead ringer for what we tasted in the tasting room: bright strawberry and fromboise; acidity balanced with fruit; basil on the finish; delightful and refreshing; everything a rosé should be. 13.5% alc. With cheeses, molé, and crusty bread. Recommended (more or less given the good bottle and the wine tasted at the tasting room). |

5/10/2019 - timewithwine wrote: NRThe color has transformed from a pastel pink to cantaloup. The flavor is likewise cantaloup. Gone is the strawberry. But the cantaloup is distinct is clean; the acidity balanced; a touch of basil on the finish. Clean and refreshing. 13.5% alc. Without any thing as we contemplate the death of Libby Welsh. Recommended. |

10/2/2021 - Stufts wrote: 90 pointsA massive Sonoma Zin (aka Primitivo) at 15.5%. while the alcohol is quite noticeable (perhaps will integrate better in time?), there is plenty to enjoy here. Deep ruby in color, aromatic nose of blue fruits (blackberry/blueberry/boysenberry) with sweet spices and vanilla and cedar from oak. It does head towards jamminess with that overripe high alcohol structure, but has a hefty and plush mouthfeel. Not a lot of tertiary notes yet, however the wine opened up in fascinating waves over 2-3 hrs and evolved... |

5/30/2020 - GJVines Likes this wine: 85 pointsNice nose, but very "muddy" on the palate. Tasted a bit thick and medicinal. No lift. It was drinkable, but I wouldn't buy it. In my opinion, not good QPR. |

12/30/2018 - as4beatles Likes this wine: 92 pointsIt was a very good tasting pinot noir. It was a bit cold so we had to wait but once it got to room temperature and it was aerated, the flavors all showed. There was a touch of cherry, and it paired great with Chinese food. What I really liked was the limited alcohol which allowed a bit more drinking without the buzz. |
