2020 Fanny Sabre Beaune Clos des RenardesPinot Noir more |
5/22/2024 - SARED wrote: 92 pointsA lighter styled 12.5% alc for the hot 2020 vintage. I actually wish it was picked a day (or two) later to reduce the high toned nature of the wine. Crunchy tart cherry, currants, blackberry with a nice bit of soiseboise on the noise. Has a fuzzy, earthy feel to the fruit. Benefited from a decant to soften the high toned streak, and came off older than it was (with the soise boise). A pretty good pick up for $65 and I think would benefit from 5 years if bottle age (to soften the high toned juiciness). Think: sour cherry, fuzzy raspberry, earth, chalk. |

4/2/2024 - Tudz Drkl Likes this wine: NRNose of spiced Christmas cake cherries, evergreen forest, earthiness. It’s still quiet and savory. On the palate there’s cherry but it is chocolate covered and very savory. The tannins are round and spicy but very fine grained. This is delicious. from Magnum |

Macerated for 4-5 days with the skins, then pressed and moved into oak barrels to finish the fermentation. Aged for 16 months in 228-liter oak pièces, of which a small portion was new. 13% alcohol. |

3/2/2024 - burgconvert Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis parcel always does a good job. A great cross if you're looking for some entry level sour cherry and sous bois in a form that isn't too fresh and outwardly "young" in presentation. This definitely needs an hour or two of decanting to fully show its bouquet. Would be super happy drinking this over the next 5 years. Not really sure if it will last the better part of decade. Pretty good value |

7/14/2023 - KeithAkers wrote: 89 pointsThe nose is open and giving after about a half hour with red plums, raspberries, dark red cherries, herbs, baking spices, violets, and crush rocks. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and refined with crisp, medium+ acid and silky, medium tannins. This is my first time with a Fanny Sabre and in many ways, I don't know how to feel/react. As a Pommard, I just don't see it. As a delicious Pinot Noir, it's absolutely there. I would like to see where this goes with some age, but I'm not sure it'll ever really bring that rustic charm that I love from the village. |

The aroma is delicately layered with hints of forest floor and strawberries. However, compared to my previous experience, the palate was noticeably weaker. I would recommend avoiding pairing it with robust dishes such as steaks, as it may not hold up well. |

9/15/2023 - Canoehead Likes this wine: 93 pointsTwo bottles enjoyed over chef’s dinner at 6&24 in The Hague. Lovely aromatics of dried black cherries and fig paste. Medium-bodied, very good depth and well-balanced. Paired well with the first handful of delectable courses that were primarily fish/seafood or vegetarian. This restaurant could convert me to herbivore status after tasting my wife’s vegetarian courses. We followed with some decanted Ch du Tertre Margaux but Fanny was the favourite at the table. |
