This wine was very good day one. Excellent full-bodied, dark grapes, pepper, some chocolate, good tannins and structure. Has a nice medium to long finish. Needless to say, I was quite shocked. I thought "Don't trust ratings, test them yourself" (which I already know, but it's hard to follow).....And then this turned out to be even far better on day two! On day two the dark grape and plum notes are more pronounced, with moderate black pepper, chocolate, and some earthy notes to it also like flint and graphite come through. Good oak now showing, and nice dry mouthfeel. This wine is extremely enjoyable and a pleasure to savor, with or without food. Clearly full-bodied with good structure, and worth a much higher rating. |
