Starts out okay. Barnyard, bright red fruit, some grip and structure. Fell apart pretty fast. IMO, better to spend a little more on a brunello and get something significantly better.

Solid BdM from a good vintage. Decanted about 2 hours before serving with chicken parmigiana. Red brick color and floral nose. Strawberry and cherry primary notes with a bit of spice/smoke in the back of the throat. Decent finish with soft tannins. Held up well when revisiting on day 3.

When I first pulled the cork, I was worried how this bottle was going to show. It seems tired and thin. I poured a couple of glasses and let them sit for an hour. When I came back, the wine had opened and put on some weight. Some earthy notes, but also some mint and dark fruit. We both enjoyed it. I hope my last bottle shows as well. I’ll try to drink it in the next year or two.

Everything I like about a brunello. Packed with fruit, long finish, and just a tad bit of funk that gives it the old world charm

My records show that I spent $13 on this bottle in 2017. Those were the days. I was interested because it was made by Tenuta di Sesta. The wine opened up a little tired tasting, giving me concern that I should have drunk it when I bought it rather than cellaring it for years. However, over time that better qualities of the wine began to emerge - aged fruit, soft tannins, Montalcino tastes. By the last glass this was a good bottle of wine and I was sorry to see it go. It sometimes takes a fair amount of breathing to let wines from this region emerge.

Lovely aromas of roses and vanilla. Rich plums and cinnamon flavors with bold tannins. Lingering raspberry finish. A few years and I think it will be a beauty.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.

May have been a bit young. Very tight after decanting. It eventually opened up, but not a typical Brunello. Tasted more like a Chianti.

Delicious on first taste but an off fishy note creeps in. Pretty much everything you expect in a Brunello. Char and cherry. Well reviewed by others. I enjoyed it despite some slight oddities.

Weigh value discrepancies between smell and drink in favor of the former. This is especially true of a young wine with penetrating, original aromas, and a palate bound up in reeds and acid. (Be sure to rule out remedial aromatic cosmetology.) The smell of this wine is insuppressible and relaxed, with anise, rose, and bergamot. A drink acts like translucent cables under tension. Ash roasted roots and twigs, seething with sap, keep illuminated clearance on the action. Gripping laces; wildflowers; crumbled earth; passively aromatized like minty, radiant, mountain amaro; exceedingly transparent of flavor; quite long. It’s premature! And exciting to drink. It might improve. 90-95 points.

Update: 24 hours later it's hardly budged. It might even have lost a margin of pretty aroma. It's a little harder to access, and yet the winning material is still in there, bracing, and available by way of pressurized slurping. I can see this wine appealing to a certain faction—ascetic eurocentric elitists. 😂 Maybe avoid this wine if you are looking for fudge-textured ink with sweet tannins.

This was a pleasure to drink but I am not sure I would have guessed it was a BdM in a blind line-up. Lots of delicious red fruit up front and then even more fruit on the finish. Opulent.

Tasted after a 75 minute decant. Pale to medium ruby in colour with a distinct garnet hue. Aromas are lovely leather, floral & earth. On the palate, medium bodied red/black cherry, somewhat earthy & floral, tobacco/chocolate, medium to high acidity, medium to high soft tannins with a long finish to sour cherry, minerality & leather. This wine is elegant & restrained, & has aged well!

First pour upon uncorking:
Alcohol and tart cherries on the nose. Those cherries dominate the palate, but do allow some dry herbal notes to come through. It needs some time to open up and balance out, but I like what the smooth mid-weight body suggests might be in store.
Preliminary rating of 87.

Now that it has decanted for 45 minutes, it has improved in some areas, but also revealed some flaws. Cherries are less tart, more ripe, The dry herbs come through immediately, and there's a touch of bitter leather at the end. The middle palate feels a bit hollow. I wish it were filled with plums or spices or suchlike.
