Slightly oily and dusty texture. Some ripe melon emerges. More open than most Austrian Rieslings of the same vintage. Almost a German style. Very enjoyable. |

And it could use a little time in the cellar to fatten up. A case purchase. |

Pale yellow with a lovely balance of tartness and fruit. A good example for the argument that Grüners benefit with bottle age. Super value! |

This is more complex, layered, and textured than many Gruners at this price point. A touch of smoke joins ripe orchard fruit - ripe apple, perhaps apricot and peach, there is even a hint of tropical fruits. Pretty long finish. Really a very pretty wine. |

There are also hints of petrol. The palate mirrors. Mild sweetness, unlike many of the Austrian rieslings I've tasted, which tend towards savory. Mouthfeel is slightly round yet slightly crisp - very refreshing. A decent medium finish that extends with herbally fruit. It's still very fruit forward at this point - easy drinking and light-bodied. *Weingut Stadt Krems has been producing wine since 1452. It is owned by the City of Krems. *The vineyard, Ried Grillenparz, is rated Erste Lage by the OTW. |
