Popped and poured. Deep garnet color and aromas of earth, slight barnyard and mocha. Flavors of balanced red fruits, dried herbs, coffee and a slight tobacco. Super young. Balanced and a nice drink, but will wait 2-4 years before trying again.

5/22/2024 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 94 points

Last tasted nearly a year ago, this wine was again decanted through a Vinturi aerator. However, in contrast to my prior tasting 6/27/2023, it was serially sampled over the immediate three hours following decantation, during which time it continued to improve. A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, it still offers an intense aromatic array of cassis, blackberries, licorice, bittersweet chocolate, menthol, espresso, loam and pencil shavings. Deep ruby, full-bodied and with lively acids, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose, hiding its 13.9% alcohol well. The oak and plentiful fine-grained tannins have yet to fully integrate; despite this, the texture of the wine is quite refined for such a young Margaux. Layered on the mid-palate and long on the finish, this is a structured red that will improve with time in the cellar. Enjoy it over the next few decades if your personal longevity allows. Drink 2028-2054.

5/23/2024 12:38:00 PM - Snagged 6 of these at local CostCo for $39.99. Should have bought 12. PT, I usually buy this one in most vintages. Reminds me I need to buy some 2016. I’ve been putting this off.

5/23/2024 6:30:00 PM - PT…because of my age I’m going to pass on 23 Bordeaux. Sure they will be great. I’m happy to keep buying 15-19 to get my BDX fix.

Took to Florida to share with Mark1npt & Carol. Marks note is right on as far as it seems older. My last bottle of this so on to my 15 2015 bottles. I would drink sooner than later as theruit and tannins are fading. Still some nice Cab flavors & enough structure to make it enjoyable.

Forgot to review this. Decided just to PNP unlike decanting like we did in Florida. Made a huge difference. 95 all day long. If you have this I recommend not decanting it for best results. Very full and extracted without the sweetness that showed while young.

Wine of our Florida trip graciously brought by Mark1npt to our Marco Island condo. Served alongside a 14 Malescot St Exupery, 15 Dominio de Aguila Reserva and a Mayback Cab. Clearly the best wine by far. Classic Old World Bordeaux nose of cedar, leather, tobacco, cassis & forest floor. Modern Bordeaux but packed with structure & flavor. Probably the most accessible 05 Left Bank I’ve had so far. This was so opulent and open for business. Thank you Mark for sharing this amazing bottle. It was one of the best LB’s I’ve had in a long time,

Being a huge fan of Sangiovese and Cabernet this is kid of my perfect wine. A beautiful mix on the nose between the sour cherry, the cassis, the black plumb and the herbacious notes. It has violets, eucalyptus, leather, chocolate and a hint o manure. The tannins are soft and ready to drink, the finish is long but the best part is the chocolaty flavour that leaves at the end.
What a Wine!

One of the more pure expressions of Pauillac. Dark, powerful, fruit, with chalky/graphite secondary flavors. Really good value.

5/22/2024 4:46:00 PM - This is a no brainer purchase in great vintages. The downside for me at 67 is having to wait so long to drink it. I have lots of earlier maturing St Emilion to work through anyway.

From 375ml, was sitting all dinner and thinking wow is the 2011 drinking like this all of a sudden. I have to buy more. The day after I realised I had opened a 2010. A couple of points ahead of the 2011 and an amazing QPR-wine. So vibrant, silky, and simply delicious. This is wonderful now and will be wonderful for many, many years to come. Decant for 2 hours.

Clear, deep garnet.
Clean, pronounced nose of violet, redcurrant, blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, tomato leaf, mint, eucalyptus, liquorice, vanilla, cloves, cedar, smoke, chocolate, leather, earth, tobacco.
Dry, medium acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full bodied. Pronounced on the palate. Very long finish.

Conclusions: Balanced, long, intense and complex. Outstanding.
