2014 François Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Clos du Breuil

Lean and bright yet with depth and structure. Wife asked for more after we had downed the bottle, which is a strong endorsement and a suggestion that purchases of additional bottles may not be heavily scrutinized.

1/21/2016 9:32:00 PM - FMIII...sometimes the purchase of wine in our house can resemble a legal argument. Hit the Choisilles soon, you'll love it. Surprisingly gold color and dense palate, but decent acidity and overall balance. Like with the Breuill, Sahba and I killed a bottle in no time over Xmas. I went back for more and didn't even bother to prepare a defense.

Familiar flavors and smells are identifiably "Puzelat" and "Pineau d'Aunis" in nature. What's left, I guess, is how this particular vintage stacks up. Pretty well, actually, despite all the horror stories. There's less funk on the nose than usual, I think, and the flavors are slightly more straightforward but I don't see these as necessarily negative characteristics. I like this; it falls into the enjoyable "little" wine category.
I'd be a continuing buyer as long as the price remains modest.

On day 2, unfortunately, the fruit was all dried out and a good deal of Brett (which I didn't notice at all on day 1) had come to the fore. It wasn't worth finishing the bottle.
