Attractive controlled fruit with a touch of dust on finish

Firm tannins, nice balance

Cakebread owns a couple of Suscol xxxx vineyards. Hmmm.

Beautiful wine. Opened as a contrast to a 2010 Cayuse En Cerise. This was almost younger and fresher, full of vibrant dark fruit - dark cherry and blackberry. Pure and ripe on the palate with nice hints of licourice and currant. Long and very well balanced, just a lovely glass of wine. Excellent finish.

Compared to the EnCerise though, came off second best. I guess if you like your wines pure and fruity the Betz was better, but the Cayuse was so damn complex. Sweaty meaty notes, some leather, sweet blackberry fruit. Awesome long fnish.

Very close in quality for these two wines, but the Cayuse edges just because of the extra stuff going on......

Lighter than expected for a GSM. Softly sweet on the nose, more grenache than anything, soft raspberry. Soft ripe fruit on the palate as well, low tannins and not much in the way of acidity either. Hope this was cheap, as it will mainly be used for cooking. Decent enough, but there are plently better out there.

2012 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch Vineyard

Russian River Valley more

PnP to start birthday dinner. Went great with first courses of Salad, Scallops and steak tar tar. Wife really liked this and isn't usually a Pinot fan, so that tells you it isn't the typical Oregon Pinot I buy (price says so too). Less strawberry and more syrah like, cherry, pepper, spice flavors w/ a floral nose. Will be looking for more Keefer Ranch wines in the future.

3/9/2015 7:54:00 PM - Thanks krhaugh, sorry for the confusion. I was just trying to highlight how stylistically different this Russian River Pinot was from the Oregon Pinots I normally buy, not saying that the Russian River is in Oregon.
