93-94 young, drinkable. Don’t know what WS saw to give it #4 wine of the year.

Brett.

Metallic and harsh tannins, the fruit is gone. Color and appearance it is fine. Not corked either...

Where is the super second?

3/7/2024 10:30:00 PM - 100%. I’ve heard rumors that this chateau is notorious for having flawed bottles.

Before I heard this I did get 3 bottles of the 2020. Hopefully theyll be as good as the reviews say

94-95

Earth, black tea, crushed rock, raspberry, blackcurrant, cherries. Really quite layered with a nice long finish and incredibly smooth tannins. Very understated and elegant style. As Jancis writes, lacks a bit of a midpalate.

See Suckling, LPB, Jane Anson reviews.

Everything JENSAGO said but I found the smokey/toasty notes more subdued and the tannins less drying that she noted now that I drinking this on the last month of the year. I do live in Malaysia and bought this off the shelf, so the temperature might have sped aging up a bit.

Could sense some truffle and minerals in the medium finish. Really nice quality, elegant wine. Understated power. Great stuff!

59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot.

In the nose, floral notes, dark fruits, black cherry, spice (from the cab sauv and the alcohol), cream and smoke. Full-bodied wine with vivid purple color.

In the mouth, quite ripe with juicy black fruit and truffle come through. Acid and grainy tannins are balanced, albeit tannins are little bit coarse and drying. Finish medium with a powdery sensation and truffle. This wine is quite smooth and glossy.

Merlot in this wine emerges stronger than the cabernet, which sometimes gave inky and spicy notes. Overall, dominated more by the dark, juicy fruit and mineral.

Decent wine but at times too alcoholic and ripe and didn't have a freshness and lift I generally prefer. On the second day, the wine drank a lot better but still these two elements were a bit distracting. I think this should be good from now till 2028.

Changed my review to 90pts and maintained a neutral opinion on the wine.

Better deals out there. Pay a little more for something like Cantemerle or even less for top wines from Castillon Cotes des Bordeaux and Fronsac.

Grippy tannins made me wonder if this is just too young. Slight aromatics of cherry and cedar wood. Pallete is closed maybe slight cherry fruit ? I get Oak and a slight vanilla flavor.

10/1/2023 6:09:00 AM - it opened wonderful for me - so much complexity! but then matched your review in the day(s), in addition to the acid. drinking my last glass now and it's so grippy and tight.

i think it needs another 2-3 years to reduce the harshness. what i did taste when i drank without any decanting was amazing though.
