7/2/2022 - BrianinVan Likes this wine: 90 pointsA lovely red out of the Cowichan Valley. I might have aged this 2018 bottle another year. That said, it’s easy drinking, medium body, complex for a cooler climate red, nice balance. Anise, red fruit, and only mild oak |

4/24/2021 - biggie Likes this wine: 89 pointsRoot Day - Pale straw in colour. Explosive nose of apricot along with sweet herbs and mineral. This is not a one note wine however - it has layers of texture and subtle undefinable elements. Dry, mineral and fruit driven it’s a pleasure to sip. |

2/8/2016 - peterhimes Likes this wine: 85 pointsThe varietal was apparently planted to accommodate the cold climate, but never caught on. This is one of the hold outs, and a good bet. Not a great wine but a great picnic wine; red fruits and medium tannins, food friendly and won't overpower anything. A wine to drink every day |

5/15/2010 - fries Likes this wine: NRGorgeous copper hue. Slightly muted nose of warm apples, peaches and a touch of vanilla. Palate has the barrel-fermented plushness with peachy / citrusy fruit and moderate acid. Overall, the fruit is a little muted, but still enjoyable. A good match with grilled spot prawns. |

1/6/2010 - fries wrote: NRDrank over two nights, no decant, little or no sediment in the bottle. Deep purple-red, nearly opaque in the glass. Fruity, blackberries, gamey / meaty, a little spicy, maybe even a little tar / rubber on the nose. Palette is smooth, jammy, medium-bodied with soft tannins. Good... an impressively concentrated Foch from the hot 2006 summer on Vancouver Island. There were moments that the nose reminded me a little of some malbecs I've had recently... high praise indeed for a Van Island red. |

8/23/2009 - fries wrote: NRDecanted for about an hour before pouring. Light ruby red, less colour that I remember from the 04 and 05. Beautiful aroma: black cherries, baking spices, licorice. Palatte is silky, with just enough acidity and a little mineral twist. Long finish. Very impressive effort, a bit more subtle and integrated than previous vintages. |

12/3/2008 - fries wrote: NRPale yellow, slightly greyish. Delicate aromas of apples and tropical fruits, with the oak showing through. Palette is straightforward, slightly mineral apples with a twist of citrus, mild oaky finish. Moderate acidity. A pleasant wine, but one that left me wanting something else... the fruit is pretty muted. |
