2013 Anelare Merlot Ciel du Cheval VineyardRed Mountain more |
9/11/2021 - sprap1951 Likes this wine: 92 pointsFruity and oh so smooth. What Washington merlot is supposed to be. Had with Tri-Tip and a bottle of 2013 Fidelitas merlot. Same year, same vineyard, same winemaker. Strikingly similar. Charlie Hoppes is a genius. |

2016 Anelare Cabernet Sauvignon Boushey VineyardYakima Valley more |
7/22/2019 - feinwine Likes this wine: 91 pointsNice Yakima Valley cab featuring 100% cabernet, very lush, Boushey vineyard fruit! Decanted 3+ hours. Jammy blackberry, anise, lightly toasted oak and a touch of baking spice on the nose. Nicely balanced with medium acidity and supple tannins complementing a pleasingly fruit-forward opening that dances to the back of the palate for a medium-long finish. Drinking surprisingly well (July 2019) — more rounded and less tight than similarly priced Red Mountain cabs at this age. Salute! |

10/6/2018 - Combo Likes this wine: 91 pointsPopped and poured. Enjoyed with beef stew, which was a great pairing. Half hour in, this wine began to soften and open up just beautifully. I recommend decanting for an hour. |

6/15/2018 - Combo Likes this wine: 91 pointsPopped, aerated, and poured. Enjoyed with grilled steaks. Dark violet, rich, and inky in complexion with long, slow, sexy legs. BlackBerry, clove, a bit of black currant, espresso and a hint of tobacco on the nose. It’s beautiful earthy, old world forest floor scent cought my attention and briefly had me reminiscing about well wasted time, late at night, on the backwaters of the upper Mississippi River in my youth. Dark berry and cassis flavors are well balanced by softening tannins. Medium to full bodied, with a pleasantly viscous texture and a long, soft finish that leaves you just a little heart-broken that its over, once its over... |

1/12/2014 - Motz wrote: 89 pointsThis is a very good wine that suffers somewhat from the difficult 2011 vintage. Like many other WA wines from this vintage, it smells and tastes a tad greenish and decidedly acidic. Tannins are low; the finish is very acidic. |
