1/22/2023 - johnnr Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis turned into a rare treat. It has been lurking on my shelf for many years. We enjoyed it with lamb shanks done in an apricot sauce. The wine, when opened, was surprisingly fresh with good acid and black current taste. On the second night, it drank even better. |

2/25/2011 - Nohedes wrote: 90 pointsDecanted for 1hr. No sediment to speak of, little sign of bricking - just a hint at the rim. Expressive aroma - blackcurrant, menthol, truffle and a touch if fig. Smooth mouthfeel, good fruit, forest floor, mushroomy towards the end but saved by a still grippy medium long finish. Who says Margaux can't deliver at the lower price points?! |

10/6/2010 - gripNsip wrote: 89 pointsBordeaux Class at Red Slate Wine Co. (Red Slate Wine Co., Portland, OR): Heavily cab influenced nose, blackberries, rotting leaves, gravel and tobacco. Nice intensity, smells absolutely delicious. Really nice on the palate as well, beautiful balance of intensity to structure with the fruit holding just above it. Black fruit, tobacco linger for a nice medium length finish with dusty tannins that come in late. Not overly complex but very delicious at this point in the game, could do with another 5 years of age to really get those secondary flavors in frame. Tasty stuff, if I see it around town I'll buy a bottle or two. |

10/19/2009 - kenv wrote: 91 pointsFrom the wine list at Bistro Zinc in Lenox, MA, this is a delicious, fruity Bordeaux with excellent perfume and decent structure. Should drink well for another 5-10 years, but quite tasty now with a very tasty pork chop. Lots of red fruit with touches of tobacco and pencil shavings. This really hit the spot. |

A nice Bordeaux, but nothing special. Tastes were quite muted, compared to the aroma. Seemed at the end of it's drinking window, so drink 'em if you got 'em. |
