Classic CdR-profile. I didn't take too many notes when trying this, as it was opened for a pizza night, but I remember dark fruit, some bitter chocolate, smoke and tobacco. Well worth it for the price of a bottle. Drink now or within two, three years.

Strong liquorice nose with black fruits and leather. Medium to medium-full; liquorice, blackcurrant fruit, softening tannins. Needs another year or so

Immediately appealing southern C-d-R red. Rounded softening tannins, a hint of sweetness. Good for 2 more years.

Dirty damask purple red. Fruity nose of blackberry/raspberry/mulberry jam, slight wallpaper paste at back, liquorice (?). Medium to light medium-full body; prickly tannins (softening), jammy fruit, very light tar element. Very pleasant.

Classic Cotes du Rhone - an honest wine as it should be at the price of £9 in 2018. There should always be a place for such a wine in any cellar.

A classic glass of Rhone. With a lot of rosmary in the taste. With an ok freshnes. The wine is a bit out of balance, high alcohol in teh aftertaste. So drink it with food.

Garnet red, still looking youthful. Nose: peppery, liquorice, spice (mace/nutmeg). Soft, full, in the mouth, black fruits (blackberry/mulberry). Supple tannins.

Wow, time has really made this an interesting wine. Dried cherries, leather, and raisins. Finish is smooth and medium in length. What a bargain it was.

Our last bottle of this workhorse that has graced many a weeknight dinner table. On its last gasp, with the fruit having dropped out completely and some minor tertiary notes left, mostly iodine, charcoal ash and muted chocolate. In its day one of our best $7 wines ever.

Working through my last few bottles after what was a multi-case purchase several years ago. Has served admirably as a weeknight pop ‘n pour. Although getting a little long in the tooth, this is still holding its own. Pretty amazing for such a humble $7 CdR. Bacon fat and crushed black pepper joined by faint echoes of plum and blackberry. Some heat in the finish. Time to drink up.

WSET, Level 1; 5/27/2017-5/28/2017 (The Vineyard at Florence, Florence, TX): Nice, inexpensive, straightforward CdR. Plum, red cherry, and dark berry profile. Oak and acidity are in balance. Not much complexity at this stage, but a solid wine.

Gave a few hours in decanter. Nose is smooth plumb, blue, and blackberries, black pepper, with cool autumn forested edges. Warm cooked apple on the palate. Fat and round in the mouth with a balanced, un-aggressive firm tannin. Pepper and stone in the finish. Good daily drinker to fill the Rhone slot

Color is maroonish-red. Nose is light and fruity. Very pleasant with rose petals, strawberries, and licorice. Clearly opens up after some time in the decanter. Light-Medium bodied. Nice fruit, followed by a dry finish. Initially it was short as the other reviewers noted, however, after an hour it came together and finished much stronger. Be patient with this one - it needs some time to open up. Very well developed at this point and probably at peak with 1 - 2 years remaining.
