Was it over the hill, a bad bottle, or the product of an off vintage for dry rosé? Some combination of those? The nose isn't bad, showing strawberry, grapefruit, and lemon zest. The palate, however, is another story. Stony minerality, cab franc pepper, and more strawberry show up, but those flavors are undone by bitter herbal notes, unpleasant sourness, and a hot, alcoholic bite on the finish. Fatally, there isn't enough acidity to lend this wine balance. Strangely, this tasted better on the warmer side, which cut the wine's off-putting sourness. Do you find this review helpful? With a well chilled bottle by the nose the first guess was moscato. The flavor and sweetness still point me to moscato. As it warmed slightly the nose change to a slap in the face pear like I have never had before. The sweetness effect lessen some as it warm. Sweet but not stifling. Pale pink color, medium effervescence, cherry and cranberry on the nose, medium on the palate and a brief, crisp finish. Perfect amount of residual sugar (under 1%) that cuts the bite at the end - many bone dry Finger Lakes sparklers leave an acrid aftertaste, while some over do the sugar which can make it taste like Prosecco (which I personally don't care for). This is a nice balance. At $18/bottle, it's terrific for parties and you don't have to feel bad opening a few bottles. Served with spicy Thai chicken. Do you find this review helpful?
