I believe this wine was from an Argentine wine club we were in many years ago, and it's moved with us a few times now—at 19 years old, I wasn't surprised by the amount of sediment nor the cork breaking (even using the ah-so), but didn't have particularly high expectations at this point. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised with what's in my glass.

Still an opaque black in the glass with purplish ruby at the edges. Smells like plum, black cherry, cassis, graphite, tobacco, light funk, and a touch of floral. Medium to full body, medium (+) acid and finish, a touch of heat from the 15.5%, but surprisingly well integration there too, and flavors of cassis, blueberry, lemon, black tea, and a strong mineral core running throughout. This is solid juice and still very much alive. Nice one.

Medium-full bodied, red with some bricking, intriguing aromas of earth, baking spice and subtle citrus overtones. Well-integrated, easy drinking, with a very very long, velvety finish. Dark sweet fruit, but lots of acidity to keep it tasting fresh. Far exceeded expectations. Drink now.

Deep ruby red, almost brick, colour. Wonderful aromas of plumb and blackberry. The wine coats the mouth with ripe berry flavours and rich fig undertones. There is a hint of spice, chocolate and vanilla notes. The wine is well balanced with just right amount of tannins. It took the wine some time to open up after decanting. Finnish is long and smooth. The legs are slow. There is light sediment in the bottle.

Opaque, slightly bricking red violet color; mature, tart plum, violets, baked plum nose; tasty, rich, ripe black fruit, plum, violets palate with sweet, firm tannins; should go for 5-plus more years; medium-plus finish (14.5% alcohol)

Very floral start, prob a little too floral with tropical fruit and ripe peach aromas and flavors. Very nice summer wine with a slightly sweet character, simple but pleasant. Perhaps this would have been better a year ago.

Last bottle. One of the best values in my cellar. Every bottle has been superb. Deep and dark color. Dark berries dominate the taste. Has a "classic" Malbec style.....which I cannot easily put into words. Still youngish.....not tiring at all. Could imrove with time, but no reason to wait. A lot happens when first sipped, then a long finish. I need to find some more of this one from a subsequent vintage.

This wine was a disappointment. The nose was not good, and the wine had no finish.

First let me say that the color of this wine is a gorgeous dark reddish purple. On the nose I get loads of dark chocolate and a little band aid with tons of ripe prunes and plums and black cherry. On the palate there is great ripe plum and cherry fruit with more chocolate and a spicy oakiness on the back end. The tannins are substantial and so is the mouthfeel. This wine is absolutely spectacular!!! Fruity and tannic and spicy and chocolately and amazing!

Decent, but sort of flabby. There was really not enough acidity. Maybe it was too old, or not cold enough.

Day 2. served colder, tasted better, but still not a noteworthy bottle -- absolutely decent, and worth the $12 I paid for it, but I did not catch all the subtleties our colleagues did. Maybe I am insensitive.

Very decent Malbec. Good QPR from #Garagiste_wine. The dominant fruit is black plum - also has some spice. Good finish. Just a bit of oak and charcoal. Went well with pork tenderloin.

Served at neighbourhood open house; opened bottles 3 hours before service. Widely praised, classic Cab although slightly too metallic aftertaste; definitely a bargain at C$18 / bottle.

Tasted July 23, 2009 as part of the WinExiles tasting for July 2009.

Opened and served immediately. Straw to light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of gooseberries, peach and lime. Flavors of lime, peach and grapefruit. Medium acidity, light body. Short to medium finish. Drink now.

Night 1 - Black in a appearance w/ dark purple near the rim. At first, the nose was sedate w/ quick wiff of alcohol. As it opened up, tamed dark berries and meat w/ no detectable over abundance of alcohol. Drank half the btl w/ italian salami and cheese.

Night 2 - Appearance was of dark purple (classic syrah). Nice and nimble - soft on the tongue - despite the high alcohol level, closer to an old world style. One of the nicer Argentinian syrahs but not as expressive as a CA or Aussie syrah (if that's your thing). Paired with rib eye (grilled), garlic fries and brown rice.

I picked up this btl (3 actually, this being the last) at France Mullman's restaurant in Mendoza w/ my wife while on honeymoon. Definite sentimental value. It paired so well w/ the Argentinian beef that we were having.
