4/21/2023 - carlwhat wrote: NRbeautiful elegance and light berry fruit notes to this lovely bottle. it still seems primary, but i did not find it overly tannic. while it seems a few years away from its prime drinking window, it was a very lovely drink on this evening. |

11/14/2022 - carlwhat Does not like this wine: NR19 years on, and this wine is still monolithic. and not very interesting. whether this wine will evolve into anything approaching enjoyable for my palate is anyone's guess. on this evening (and it was a flower day), i did not enjoy it. i attribute it to the vintage (and possibly my cold cellar) more than anything. |

1/14/2022 - carlwhat Does not like this wine: NRi found this bottle to be really out of sorts. tannins are softening similar to other 05s i have had, and the wine had a good acidity streak to it. but the fruit was fading and i am just not sure that this wine will ever age into a more balanced place. i am now tempted to open a CdE soon for a bit of a comparison... |

12/22/2021 - carlwhat Likes this wine: NRgreat cut. good salinity. nice length. true to its place. my kind of wine. i can see how people would want to age it further, as it's still very linear and painful. but i loved it right at this moment. wish i bought more. |

6/24/2021 - carlwhat Likes this wine: NRgreat mid palate density; good finishing acidity; i truly think this wine speaks of its appellation and of its vintage. frankly, i thought this bottle showed extremely well, and while drinking lovely, i would say a few more years it will be even better. can't say my experience was close to other tasters on this wine, as this was a terrific bottle in a good place. |

6/12/2021 - carlwhat Does not like this wine: NRas a very famous (who will go unnamed) wine critic once wrote, "i drink wine for pleasure, not pain..." and boy was this wine painful. i suppose there is a reason it remained unsold at the domain (or wherever the heck it was stored) before being recently released. |

4/1/2021 - carlwhat wrote: NRfor an 11 year old barbaresco, i would say this wine is exactly where it is supposed to be. little acidic, good funk, fine tannins, nice balance. MO, no way past its prime. |

11/9/2020 - carlwhat wrote: NRi dug it. has none of the exuberant fruit one would expect in a 2009; it has a quiet elegance showing a wine aging in balance without being flashy. i get the sense of stems being part of the inclusion in this wine, which gives it a rusticity in an old school burgundian kind of way. not at all dirty; i found it to be a clean wine; but i found it particularly interesting especially after tasting some of the overly pure wines made by the next generation in the region. |

7/18/2020 - carlwhat wrote: NRthis wine has never been good to me. right now it has some fruit, but it's monolithic, but without any tannins to help with its aging. its a bit of a simple drink and i guess at the price point was ok; but truly hoping for me. |

6/16/2020 - carlwhat Likes this wine: NRbeautiful density and balance to this wine. very pretty (not in a chambolle kind of pretty) and surprisingly primary. the depth of the fruit here was fantastic. for me this bottle is aging at a very slow pace; but it was none-the-less delicious in the middle of a sunny afternoon. |

6/1/2020 - carlwhat Likes this wine: NRwow... my bottle was great. young but great. i DEFINITELY had none of the VA that other tasters mention; nor did i see a green streak. my bottle had some of the classic notes of iron and fist bumping depth that i associate with barolos from the east part of the region. bit of balsamic on the nose; but still very very primary. no need to rush into them... but i value others experience with this wine, and it makes me curious about my remaining bottles. first one i tried of this wine. i'm sensitive to VA and hate it. |

6/1/2020 - carlwhat Likes this wine: NRreally a terrific showing for this wine. just beginning to take on some tertiary notes. great burgundy funk. lovely balance... maybe a hair hollow in the mid-palate. good length. definitely had a bit of the animal. i do not get any excessive oak, but perhaps time has integrated it nicely. good drink. |

3/24/2020 - carlwhat wrote: NRman, this wine was singing 3 years ago. now, it's really lacking vibrancy and attention. it was borderline on getting that caramelly, butterscotch notes on the nose, but just barely. the finish had good intensity and length.... certainly not a bad wine, but i truly preferred it younger when the acidity was refreshing and cleansing, and the flavors were more delineated.
