7/16/2022 - TexasBob Likes this wine: 90 pointsLight slightly rusty raspberry red, easy to see the bottom of the glass. Red cherries with a slightly medicinal note on the nose. Pure red cherries in what must have been a hot vintage. Tasty but not extraordinary. |

10/8/2021 - finlero wrote: 87 pointsSome nice elements, but at the risk of yucking someone else's yum, for me this was something of a disappointment, especially for a '10 riserva. Decanted two hours. Remarkably youthful ruby, just a hint of orange at the edge. Nose of licorice, plum, a little saddle leather. Very limited front palate, mostly primary black fruit, missing the acidity and structure that would provide more balance and complexity. Short-to-medium finish, on the bitter side, with some moderate tannins. Still tastes young, but without the structure to really ascend from here. This should still get better, so hold for a few more years, but it's not leading the '10 pack for a normale or riserva. |

4/10/2021 - wirelesswine wrote: 92 pointsIt's rare that I stress the specific pairing of wines, but in this case I have to call it out. With a homemade meat-filled tortellini with a simple tomato sauce, this wine couldn't be more perfect. The acidity and twang of the Sangiovese married well with the dish, and the wine was ready to go with a brief decant. Frankly, it came off a lot more youthful than I had anticipated at this stage - more tertiary notes would have been great, but even still this was a pleasure with silky sour cherry, hints of spice, and an underlying savory note. |

Cherries, some spice, medium on the palate—medium finish. Since this seemed to lose something, I would suggest drinking in one sitting, with food and within the next couple of years. |

12/26/2020 - iDrum4Wine Likes this wine: 92 pointsLight purple hue with potpourri and black pepper aromas. Roasted tomato and black cherry dominate the front palate while campfire and clove linger on a lasting finish. Beautiful balance of acidity and fruit in a full-bodied wine. |

10/20/2020 - Verb Likes this wine: 93 pointsmedium red, brick rim - mature Brunello nose of dusty red cherry fruit, dried herbs (oregano), and some tobacco aromas (but way in the background) - same bright red cherry fruit in the mouth - I agree with previous notes that this wine is on the lighter side for a Riserva from 2010, but beautifully balanced and lovely to drink with good acidity and ripe tannins - long 15-20 second finish - this has the fruit and structure to last many more years, but whether more potential complexity will be worth sacrificing enjoyment of the elegance of the wine right now is a personal choice (best to have more bottles to appreciate both aspects!) |

8/3/2020 - John McCabe wrote: 94 pointsSimilar to previous notes. Lively with the acidity one expects from the vintage, but not over-done. Light on its feet, light to medium bodied, has that citrus and orange peal aspect which is enticing, but some dark fruit notes too. Engaging, nice stuff - will benefit from more time. |
