This was not as good as the previous bottle. I guess even under screwcap there can be bottle variation.

Just trying to plow through these - not bad enough to dump, moderately enjoyable with food.

In slightly better shape than the first bottle. Was an acceptable pairing with spaghetti and bolognese sauce.

Recent auction purchase - full case.
Not a good sign - lots of acidity but not much fruit left to accompany it. I hope the other bottles show better. Most older screw capped reds that I've tried recently have been in good shape still - this one has not held up at all. Not oxidized, though. Hmm.

raspberry colour - clear and clean. nose: very raw. earthy with no fruit really. taste: flat with medium acidity; some fainted strawberries, raspberries and loads of earth; short with no tannins. disappointment.

Popped this after having a 2021 Cellar Selection PN from Villa Maria which I gave 84/100.

This has even less fruit focus than the Cellar Selection which finished with some juicy precision but was lacking up front & middle; this had better balance however, and the savoury herb is as apparent here as in the Cellar Selection. If memory serves I got this reduced from £12 to something like £8.99. Good QPR.

The 2021 Marlborough vintage was not great, with a difficult spring, cool summer, and low yields.

The 2020 Marlborough vintage was excellent, long & warm.

Definitely a Pinot. Cherry, chocolate, earthy. Lighter side but still plenty of legs. Not bad value.

This wine is almost undrinkable. One if the worst I’ve ever had. Astrigent tang with some underlying cherry/berry on the palette before you cringe as it finishes and burns.

3 Buck Chuck is a much better buy.

Pale, almost translucent, ruby red. Herby, forrest floor aromas. Cherries and spice on the palate, simple but refreshing.

This bottle popped & poured like a good creamy Gamay with a pleasant savoury nutty bitterness to balance the sweet fruit; would have guessed a bojo, blind. Had a couple of glasses then another the next evening. Much better straight out of the bottle. 2nd night it developed a less pleasant bitter finish, darker fruit and was altogether flatter.

£12 UK supermarket. Upon opening 87/2nd night 82.

Tasted blind. Medium-ruby color with brightness. Aromas of red plum, cherry, pomegranate and cranberry, with rhubarb, hibiscus and clove spices, along with soil and mushroom notes. Rich fig and cherry fruit on the palate, with clove and allspice, red florals and rocky minerals. Nicely balanced acid, elegantly textured rich density, with medium broad-grained tannins and a nicely balanced finish.

V Maria just keep knocking out this decent entry level savoury leaning cranberry/raspberry end of the red fruit spectrum Pinot Noirs, down in NZ.

My favourite country outside of France for Pinot Noir, although the pleasant shock I got recently when I tried a PN from East Sussex in England (£28 Charles Palmer 2018) has me suspecting that NZ might soon have some serious competition in the mid to high price level Pinots.

No wonder Taittinger & Pommery have been snapping up parcels of land in Kent for their fizz lines. Just the beginning one imagines.

Pleasant midweek Pinot, light in body and color, soft brightness. on the finish. Perfect session wine if you don't want to get serious or wait for something else to open up. I purchased 3 for $22-- total. Reminds me that I need to spend more time looking at New Zealand pinot instead of much pricier CA versions.

Medium body, pale ruby color. Highly perfumed ripe red fruits and dominant floral aroma. The palate is simple, mostly dried cherry complements by spicy finish but a bit green. Weak tannins, good acidity level but not natural. Enjoyable with blue cheeses and Mediterranean salad. Serve 14º - 18º. Drink now.

Clean, fresh wine. Nice fruits of red cherry, red berries, floral notes, vanilla, mushrooms and hint of herbs. Fine tannins, The balance of the wine was slightly off, the alcohol too dominating. Still absolutely value for money compared with other PN’s in the same price-range.
