tobacco, rust, leather and some spice on the nose.
On the palate a bit rough and rusty, earth and spices. Some strawberry and cherry. Medium body, in my opinion a bit light for a Cote Rotie. Finish a bit short. Not enough complexity. I expected more

Opens with mixed hedgerow fruit but also has a real gaminess to it. There's a lightness to the mouthfeel and an intensity to the finish. The wine is now starting to show itself. Decanted 45 mins.

Tobacco on the nose, dark cherries and spice.
Raspberry, leathe and a refreshing acidity on the palate also orange , plus orange peel, still a little firmness , aromatic, touch of nuts, long. The longer it's open the more that citrus note comes in.
On great form , mature now but no hurry to drink great stuff

Deep purple. Blackberries, smoke, olive tapenade on the noise.

Complex palate. Cherry and blackberries lead. As time goes by, the savoury elements come through strongly. Wonderful smoke, cigar, deli meat and olives. Framed by some light creaminess from the oak. This has good length. Perfect accompaniment to roast beef dinner

I bought a 6x750 case from TWS where it's been stored until now.
New to this wine and not sure of the relationship between Maison Perrin and the Perrin's of CNdP Beaucastel

First bottle. Half today half tomorrow.
Opened and poured.

Day 1
Classic Syrah 'purple' colour and no sign of it being 10 years old.
Initially muted on the nose, left it in the glass, and after some vigorous swirling dark red fruit notes emerge. What dark red fruits is difficult for me, an amateur, to discern. The first taste is a rush of sweet dark fruit, balanced by chalky but noticeable tannins.

At this stage (of the bottle and the wine more generally) definitely a food wine. Will see how it pairs with pork and puy lentils.

Day 2.
Woah! Completely different wine. The nose is lovely with lifted floral notes - violets? - to begin with that turn to more savoury meaty notes.
On the palate the tannins and acidity are way more integrated with plummy jammy notes on the long finish.

For my next bottle I will double decant and leave for an hour or two.

Opened and was immediately ready to go- beautiful flowers, bramble , mushrooms. Resolved tannins. This wine was elegant, mature, balanced and a joy to drink. I’d buy 6 more at the price paid if available.

At pnp it behaves like a Beaujolais, fragrant short and light. Second glass and the lenght increases, with some tannins.
Really no need to think of this as a structured cornas, I am not waiting to long for my other bottles.

Not bad aromas of crème pâtissière but disappearing fruit and no more acidity, making it a little boring. 87 today but could’ve been a 90-91 4-5 years ago. Not a 12-13 year cellaring wine — good to know for owners of younger vintages.

The first of my two stray bottles, long past their 'best by' date, as I supposed, pulled from the rack when nothing else was available for a low key dinner of chicken and porcini pie. The colour is promising: dark but bright purple, with little or no sign of age. On the nose - wow! - a surprisingly youthful aroma of violets and fruits of the forest. The palate is wonderful: plush, generous, soft but well-structured, with a whisper of oak and very fine tannins. This is a great pleasure, and far more impressive than bottles I opened at two or three years of age. I haven't previously paid this wine of Perrin's much attention, being distracted by their flashier Hermitage and Cote Rotie. I was wrong! This is a great wine at a much friendlier price. Cork, 13%.

Red but brownish tinge throughout. Shy on the nose. But getting darker berry dried fruits, plum, smoked meat, black pepper. Same on the flavour. Nice complexity. Bitterness on the fruit. Medium tannins, dusty, smooth, drying but not overpowering. All well integrated/balanced. Medium length finish.

A straightforward, soft and round Crozes blanc made from single varietal of Marsanne. Medium golden glittering colour. Aroma of acacia, honey, stone, chamomile, nutty and peachy hints. Palate is soft and smooth with oily texture, quite too soft and light acidity with stone fruit and floral nuances, slightly bitter at the finish.

Stunning bargain Crozes-Hermitage - soft nose with big fruity almost sweet palate with redcurrant and blackberry with spices - clove nutmeg etc long palate finishing well. Delicious.
