Golden amber in color. Soaring aromas of almond skin, quince paste, orange citrus, spice. Lush and rich on the palate showing honeyed apples/pears, medium acidity and a long spicy and honeyed finish.

Nose of caramel, quince, apple, white tea leaves, and some spice. Rich palate of white fruits, citrus, honey, and caramel. Borders on cloying though. Medium-long finish. Not enough acidity to warrant a 90 or higher.

{375ml} Dark gold toward amber, with tea, caramel, quince, allspice and honey aromas. Full-bodied though far from cloying thanks to plentiful acids. More than simple, but short of great. Lingers, with almond oil, tea and white floral notes that add interest. Begs for the proper cheese course.

Palate: Dark gold-amber; Wow! fantastic nose of earth, coffee, toffee/caramel, some light lychee-wax notes w/hnt melon; great flavors/character, med. fin. Yummy! Creme brulee too? W/chocolate pudding--soooo good; and buttermilk-berry thing very very good. Gregg/Conrad and spouses.

Scholium Dinner (Ripple - Cleveland Park, Washington, D.C.): Dark amber color with dense nutty and smokey tones - reminded me of scotch almost. The palate was fresher than the nose would suggest with a nice streak of minerals coarsing below the hazelnut, almond skin, and fire-roasted fruit tones.

Deeply amber hue. Bright, sleek, showy, and rich, full of decadently honeyed aromas of dates, tropical fruits, and roasted nuts and black tea. Focused acidity keeps all of the richness and weight in check keeping it from being to cloying, but rather clean and crisp. Should drink well for several more years.

Burnt orange color. Honey, spice, and candied orange rind. Paired very well with caramel apple bread pudding.
