Popped and poured straight out go the cellar, 58 F. Medium-depth ruby color, perhaps just starting to edge towards garnet. Glad that this has had a few more years to age and integrate. Subdued but lovely nose of black cherry fruit, pine forest floor funk and a hint of dark chocolate on the nose. Fine silky tannins with a slight grip, well-integrated oak and alcohol, pleasant lively acidity, medium body. Savory, spicy ripe red fruits on the palate, dried tobacco, light cinnamon. Long and lingering drying finish with strawberry and raspberry notes. Very quaffable, great QPR. This wine still has a some time left, but I will probably finish my last bottle within the year.

ABV: 14.0%. I expected this wine to be young and tannic, but I was completely wrong. The beautiful nose exhibits red roses, roasted Mediterranean herbs, and leather that surrounds a core of red and black fruits. On the palate, the fruit profiles become more prominent, displaying dark cherries and plums. The acidity is well-integrated, lifting the fruits and keeping everything in balance. There’s still a little grip from the remaining tannins, but it’s drinking pretty smooth right now, especially if you have food with it. The juicy finish leaves your palate wanting another sip. If you’re opening your bottle soon, give it a quick decant. Otherwise, this wine will easily age until the 20-year mark (2029) and more. Note: Paired very well with Italian sausage pasta.

3/29/2024 - Raised the score by two points. I wanted to taste the remaining half of the (opened) bottle to see if it’s still holding up and to my surprise, this wine is beautifully intact. In fact, it’s even juicier with a longer finish. Also, there’s a hint of umami on both the mid-palate and the finish. Now I wish I didn’t open this bottle so I hope I have another one in the cellar because this one’s definitely a keeper!

Vin rond sur le beurre, boisé et fruits mûrs noirs. Encore du corps après 13 ans. Long en bouche, la chaleur de l’alcool légèrement présent. Un beau vin.

Un classique revisité, toujours fiable ce vin.
Encore une fois, bien fruité et doté d'une belle acidité.
Prunes, petites cerises, poivre et anis.
Les tannins sont fins et la
finale bien longue nous laisses sur des relents
d'épices.

91+. When the fruit came thru this was good. Otherwise nice and silky with fine tannins. Aging was good. Decanted 1.5 hours. Cab glasses. If more fruit this would have been excellent. They seemed to come on later but never with flourish.

Bu quelques verres avec Coravin avec un Osso Buco. Robe rubis de profondeur moyenne. Nez de cerise, de fruits noirs et d’épices. Bouche tannique avec une belle acidité, fruit équilibré, il ne laisse pas paraître ses 14,5% d’alcool. Fait de Sangiovese à 100%, il n'a pas la profondeur ni la puissance de certains Chianti ou l'on trouve un pourcentage de Cabernet, de Merlot ou autre, mais ce n'est pas un défaut pour autant. Si ça se trouve ça le rend plus authentiquement italien, et on l'imagine très polyvalent avec une multitude de plats où la tomate est à l'honneur. Très bon vin.

Tasted over a 4 day period. Equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Opaque purple color with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and leather. The sip begins rounded and fruity but soon adds firm tannin, near tart acidity, and light astringency. The swallow triggers a tasty spike of fruit featuring a briary blackberry. While rich, tasty, and enjoyable now, more years of bottle age are needed for the wine to become fully integrated and caressingly textured.

Deep ruby colour.
Open nose, with red fruits (raspberries, cranberries, sour cherries), blueberries, garrigue and some liquorice.
Lots of fresh red fruits on the palate, with herbaceous notes, medium acidity and fine tannins. Good balance.
Short, drying finish kind of spoils the show. Not a bad wine though…
Drink within a couple of years.

Definitely Italian with garigue on the nose. Tannin hits on first taste but turns to plum. Not particularly complex and needs some time to settle down.

Not quite as developed as the 2016.

I tastes this in 2023, and eventhough I inow, that 2016 was a very good vintage, I was a bit dissapointet by the 2017.

It still tasted fine, but the fruit was less and the acidity held itself a bit back. The tannins was still firm and grippy with the expected attack on your gums.

All in All a really nice wine, but not as great as the 2016 vintage. Perhaps some further aging would benefit the 2017 vintage.

Definitely a food wine as it has a level of biting tannins on the finish that seem unresolved/ unbalanced without food. drank over 2 days with no real resolution to the finish. good fruit but needs time or it is what it is.
