With some decant this opens up abit, but the wine is definitely not overly complex (which was slightly underwhelming) - notes of crunchy cherry, raspberry, damp carpet, violets. Good fruit offering on the palate, but structurally the wine feels somewhat thin, where the acidity and tannins lag behind the fruit and alcohol. Medium finish. |

11/9/2010 - oldwines Likes this wine: 92 pointsI found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Tasted at the winery. Traditional style. Round in some ways but big structure with biting tannin and high acidity. Not as fruity or spicy as the 2006 and a little shorter on the finish, but in other ways quite similar to the ‘06. Probably needs long aging. |

Complex, earthy, lots of red berry/ cherry fruit, tar, roses, balsamic hint on finish. Layered and long. Special. |

Ready to drink but still with plenty of tannin and balanced structure for longer aging. Black cherry with spice and leathery undertones, hint of almond on the finish. Elegant, lively. |

11/9/2010 - oldwines Likes this wine: 91 pointsI found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Traditional style. Tasted at the winery. Seems similar to the 2006 in its nose and profile but more fruit forward and rounder, probably due to the longer aging. |

11/9/2010 - oldwines Likes this wine: 92 pointsI found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Tasted at the winery. Traditional style. Even lighter in color than the 2006. Seems a bit more tannic. Bigger, more powerful wine than the color would indicate. Fruit seems a bit more submerged into an undertone. With age perhaps it comes around? |

11/9/2010 - oldwines Likes this wine: 93 pointsI found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Tasted at the winery. Traditional approach winemaking. Light, almost Pinot Noir like color but more garnet that ruby. Elegant with a rustic undertone. Good fruit, ancidity and structure, needs aging. Slightly dried cherry (raisin?) hint to orange peel, licorice. Long finish. |

11/9/2010 - oldwines Likes this wine: 92 pointsI found some old written tasting notes from my first trip to Piemonte in 2010… Tasted at the winery. From 30+ year-old vines, aged in French oak barriques (30% new) This is their top of the line Barbera - age-worthy. Spicy with black cherry and licorice, oak influence “visible” but seems quite balanced and with good acidity. |

5/3/2024 - WineGuyX Likes this wine: 91 pointsAfter extensive airing, this is finally showing. Sour cherries, leather and herbs and spice on the nose. Medium-bodied and taut, this is high acid with moderate tannin and flavors of black and sour cherries, red plum, leather and rust. Drink now-2028 91 |

4/19/2024 - Aschi Likes this wine: 88 pointsTried with Coravin. First bottle had hint of volatile acidity. So tapped into another one, with the same result. In addition to the typical forest floor smell there was some volatile acidity. Color is light, as one would expect for a nebbiolo. Unexpectedly and contrary to other reviews, there are almost no tannins. wine is rather light in body. What is going on? Wine was stored in aircond cellar, purchased from producer directly. Will wait for a while, then may decant a bottle for a couple of hours. |

4/17/2024 - WineGuyX Likes this wine: 92 pointsRich and powerful, this has aromas of black cherry, u see rush and leather. Full-bodied, this is absolutely brimming with sweet black cherry liqueur, pomegranate juice, blood orange and rust. Still tannic, but if high quality. This is pretty fantastic right now. Drink now-2030+ 92 |

4/17/2024 - jkvedar Likes this wine: 93 pointsVery pretty wine. Popped and poured. Cherries, pomegranate and flowers on the nose with a touch of earth in the background. On the palate, medium + acidity and medium, fine tannins. Long finish. Paired with stuffed shells and pomodoro sauce. A real treat, this young (I was a bit surprised), and very good value. |

3/15/2024 - winchester-xi Likes this wine: NROpened this by mistake, so let it sit on the counter for two days and then drank with a pizza dinner. Very much a red fruit profile, with classic rose petal aromatics matched with bing cherries and even a bit of cranberry on the palate. Although the acid is front and center, there’s also just a hint of background sweetness apparent. Some Nebbiolo tar comes through, along with a prominent earthy note. Good length, with a bit of bitterness in the tannins becoming evident on the finish. Definitely worth tossing a couple of bottles into the cellar. |

3/6/2024 - Xavier Auerbach wrote: 92 pointsA private dinner (Ristorante Enoteca Testamatta, Amsterdam, NL): Lovely cherry fruit and a hint of almond, flowers and warm spices, full bodied (14.5%) but retains it elegance, firm and tannic but not dusty, concentrated but transparent, convincing finish. Needs more time, quite sturdy, but very good already with casareccie alla coniglio. |

1/20/2024 - salil wrote: 92 pointsVery pretty; in that style of Nebbiolo that's extremely light, red fruited, and floral. The aromatics take some time to build - at first it doesn't have much of a fragrance, but the palate is striking from the first sip with lovely freshness and clarity to the fruit flavours, and a finish that's all gravelly earthiness. |
