I am usually drinking the leaner styles of wine with little or no fruit so my comments have to be taken in that context. No this is not a buttery California Chardonnay. It is just a richer style than I am used to drinking. The acid is here. Some saline on the finish. Very nice. |

10/16/2023 - mojotojo Likes this wine: 90 pointsVery young pinot from House of Bones. I wanted to check it out and see if I should increase my order by a few bottles. That verdict is still out. The wine is fine and nicely textured. Good cherry + cassis nose with some spice, mushrooms and a touch of allspice. Fairly astringent though with relatively high acid and taught tannins that are clearly several years away from mellowing. It could evolve into a delicious wine but, right now, it leans more toward the high acid side of the spectrum making it a good food wine but not so good for generally quaffing. I'm in wait-and-see mode with this wine. |
