4/5/2024 - NickA Likes this wine: 93 pointsThomas’s Northern Rhone extravaganza (Cabotte): Dark gold, unsurprisingly. Bitter nuts, yellow raisins and exotic woods on the nose... yum. Toast, butter and hazelnut found on the palate, seasoned with a touch of rancio, and then icing sugar-sweetness coming through with time in the glass. This was divisive, but to my taste absolutely delicious. Great start. |

Quite oxidised; oranges, marzipan, but by no means over and done with. Acidity is pretty spikey on the palate but some ripe stone fruit notes remain. I *really* like this - but I was in the minority to say the least. Perhaps I was just looking forward to the evening! |

Spice, Anise and lavender on the nose. Floral and crisp on the palate, with the acidity persisting through the long finish. Great wine. |

First thing I notice is the similar characteristics of the regular Hermitage Blanc. But this wine has more depth and complexity. Secondly I noticed the looooong finish, which was insane. Could still taste the wine as clearly as daylight even after minutes while listening to Guillaume Sorrel explain about the terroir. Made from the vines grown on the plot of “Les Rocoules” of the famous L’Hermitage mountain. |

Once it did, fantastic experience that only improved with airtime. Intense green apple and green tea was eventually complemented by the more usual nuttiness and a touch of exotic incense and tropical fruit as the mouth also took on weight. To me a clear sign this still has a long life ahead of it. |
