Had a carbonated feel to it. Very hot going down.

Drinking great now. Although the fruit was big, it seemed in balance and not over-the-top. Added complexity in that the wine gave off a scent of tar/smoke that I enjoyed.

Alcohol showed too much the first night but integrated nicely on the second. A nice syrah showing spice and pepper with a little funkiness that made it interesting. Would definitely buy again.

I don't drink much Zin but this was absolutely fantastic. The nose had a smokey character with some bacon fat tones. The fruit was excellent and abundant. Not over-the-top and syrupy like the very few Zins I have had. Alcohol level was listed at 15.9% and the wine showed absolutely no heat at all. A real pleasure to drink.

Upon opening, very tight and not giving up anything in the nose. Decanted for 6+ hours and it still did not open up. In the glass, aroma was extremely similar to wintergreen skoal and/or a dip cup. Taste did not deviate. Drank over the course of about 3 hours and nothing really changed. Giving this the benefit of the doubt though as the wine was just way too young. May evolve into something quite different in a couple of years. As of now, 85 pts...my friend's bbq that accompanied the wine...100 pts.
