11/23/2010 - Guppies wrote: NRI know I have tasted worse wines, but they are escaping my mind right now. Of course, a dry cork that deteriorates on opening did not start the bottle off right and it went down hill from there. Deep red cherry colour, bright acidic taste that just melts your tongue. Makes me long for a bottle of Mogen David to mix with it to give it a fruit flavor. I don't believe a rating is necessary - of course, this is all my opinion and I am sure this is probably the greatest wine out there for someone, just not for us |

5/4/2010 - Guppies wrote: 95 pointsTannins heavy at first blush, but after decanted for 2 hours, WOW!!!! This wine will definitely grow with age and did tonight. Started with strong grape flavor, followed by oak and licorice flavors. End was one great wine. Glad we have a few to grow over the years because this wine is going to grow so much over the years. |

1/10/2010 - Guppies wrote: 89 pointsOne and half years later this wine seems to have flattened out. Still lots of berries, great flavors but seems to be lacking any zing. As someone noted earlier, this could almost be served as a port. Still, not a bad wine to serve at a party. Definitely not a wine I would want to pair with any meal. After opening another bottle a week later, I don't believe this wine has too much life left, maybe 2 years, top. I am going to treat my remaining bottles as "Drink Now!!!" Otherwise, it will probably be good for a stew for another few years. Right now, lots of fun. |

1/6/2010 - Guppies wrote: 93 pointsStill a little young, but after letting it breathe, it definitely opens up. Deep dark purple, berries and tannins really kick in. This wine should be a barn burner in another 3 to 5 years. Looking forward to it. |

12/23/2009 - Guppies wrote: 93 pointsSlight metallic taste on initial pour but as it opened it turned into a great cinnamon/licorice taste. Loads of berries & earthy. Another great wine by a great wine maker. I agree with the previous poster as to comparing Fairview to Rattle Snake, very similar; however, while I would never turn down a glass of Fairview, between the two, Rattle Snake rocks!! |

12/22/2009 - Guppies wrote: 94 pointsThis wine is definitely growing with age. Still needs decanting for at least an hour, but "Wow!" does it open up. I am so looking forward to this over the next several years. Hints of cinnamon, smoke, loads of berries. The flavor just grows and grows. Thanks Bradley - You're the greatest!! |

Fruity, smooth, dry. Deep dark red, very strong legs, great aroma. So happy I have a few more to share, just need to remember to open and let it breath before serving. |

10/29/2009 - Guppies wrote: 94 pointsStepped back a year from the 96. Personally, I believe the 06 will prove out to be a little better; however, if it has the great depth of the 05, I will be satisfied. This wine has so much legs, the side of the glass looked like it was coated with a syrup. The smoky flavors of the fruits came rushing through. Looking forward to how this wine grows in another year or so. I have yet to find a Melka wine that disappoints, so it should not be surprising that he may have saved his best for his own vineyard. Great wine, great vinter. |
