1/15/2016 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRClearly showing the hot vintage (lots of baked, dark fruit), but in a good spot now - classic Lytton Springs profile. |

1/16/2016 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRNot dead yet, not even close. Needs about 30 minutes of air to get going, the last glass 2 hours after opening was the best. |

12/13/2015 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: 90 pointsWeird - bottle opened a year ago seemed to be on the way down. I popped this because I needed some white wine to cook with and this bottle was in great shape! Might have something to do with the synthetic cork. |

12/5/2015 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRVery tight right now - all structure with single-note cherry flavors. Decanted at the table, last glass' nose seemed to be opening up. I'll check back in three to five years. |

8/31/2015 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: 93 pointsWow - rockin' good after 30 minutes in the decanter. Density of fruit without being heavy, great black fruits and savory notes. Wish I could get my hands on more of this. |

8/28/2015 - SuitePhoto wrote: NRDecanted about an hour before dinner. Blocky wood and spice notes with small hints of fruit with some heat on the finish. Seemed like it just needed to open up, but it never really happened. Much respect for the low ABV, but that doesn't mean much when it doesn't deliver after an hour+ of air. Meh. |

5/10/2015 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRPerhaps this just needed some time? One dimensional when first opened, an hour of air worked magic. Tart red fruits, tobacco and a touch of oak influence (not overwhelming), with silky tannin. A really nice drink with red sauce and pasta. Many thanks to the CT community- ho-hum reviews here made others pass this bottle up. |

1990 Domaine François Legros Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les BousselotsPinot Noir more |
2/14/2015 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRAt the end, but still enjoyable with some air. Color was browning, with iron and meat notes upon opening, but 30 minutes of air brought some nice creamy red fruit with plenty of acid still there to keep the wine together. Not profound, but a enjoyed by all. |

2/10/2015 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRServed knowing the producer and vineyard, but not the vintage. Appearance of youth in the glass (I guessed 2002) – little to no hint of oxidation. Nose and palate continued the charade, lemons and sea shells with a notable mint characteristic. Palate was layered, with plushness at entry that was unexpected but enjoyable – resolving with ample acid in the mid-palate and through the long finish. A wonderful match with Amuse-bouche and first course at La Toque. When the Somm came back to refill our glasses, I was blown away to see this was a 1991. Wow. |

8/12/2014 - SuitePhoto Does not like this wine: NRThe oddest red wine experience I can remember. Overwhelming, almost painful acidity – with a background of decayed fruit. I typically expect acid to keep a wine fresh over any other structure element – not so in this case. This wine had to be absolutely painful to drink in its youth. |

4/24/2014 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRGreat fill and general condition of bottle. Gentile double-decant for sediment 2.5 hours before serving. Nice nose of red fruits and dried herbs, but with a touch of oxidation when first served. Palate also seemed to show signs of decline when first served with a decayed fruit characteristic, some sour fruits, mushroom and resolved tannin – but ample acid seemed to keep it together. However, after about an hour in the glass (3.5 hours after decanting) the oxidative notes seemed to disappear – replaced with floral red fruits and anise. Nice wine that still has some life – but not extraordinary. |

1967 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo RiservaNebbiolo more |
4/24/2014 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRGreat fill and general condition of bottle. Gentile double-decant for sediment 2.5 hours before serving. Somewhat shy nose at first that developed notes of sesame oil with some swirling, and then opened into a more feminine display of red fruits and dried flowers after about 30 minutes in the glass. Still wonderfully structured with plenty of powdery tannin and acidity. Palate coating with red fruits and roasted meat notes. Tasted next to a ’67 Terre Del Barolo and ’67 Pio Cesare – this wine and Terre where the stars, each taking turns as leader of the group throughout the evening. |

4/24/2014 - SuitePhoto Likes this wine: NRGreat fill and general condition of bottle. Gentile double-decant for sediment 2.5 hours before serving. Fantastic nose of red fruits, lavender and rose petals. High-toned red fruits in the mouth, with some porchini, almost completely resolved tannins and a great acidity that keeps the wine fresh. The wine continued to evolve in the glass and was still going strong with the last pour - six hours after opening and decant. Tasted next to a ’67 Borgogno Riserva and ’67 Pio Cesare – this wine and Borgogno where the stars, each taking turns as leader of the group throughout the evening. Not dead yet. Not even close. |
