1/3/2017 - poptart_nyc Likes this wine: 90 pointsI checked this out because it's from Argentina, which I don't usually drink, it was unfiltered and unfined, and because I think I remember the wine maker, his passion, and experimental nature form meeting him at a trade event. Very happy with the expression of the varietal. Rhone like with good mineralogy supporting pretty pitted fruits. A slightly pure honey Chas artist, not a drop of sweetness or overripeness. Good acidity and a Leigh Ted body than I would have expected. There's no comparison in Argentina, but with the rhone or Spain, can definitely hold its own in quality. Really seamless |

1/3/2017 - poptart_nyc Likes this wine: 91 pointsFirst note was very fresh and floral. The mouthfeel has weight and a perfect balance between bright without tart and smooth without creamy/heavy. Midpalate is almost like a rose wine-peaches, lychee? Maybe a bit of pineapple. And lingering ripe tree fruits. Not sweet and the little oak this sees is not obtrusive in any way. Stays refreshing and never sappy. |

Because sometimes you need a wine like this. And sometime you want a wine like this. Savage. But still very well made. A female wrestler in a couture distressed leather corset top. Maybe it's a bit too much, but it's entertaining, and there's a hint of style and plenty of substance. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

12/5/2016 - poptart_nyc Likes this wine: 90 pointsLucky night. A couple of winners after a couple of disappointing trials with a Rhone from a rose producer I loved and a madrid island white. This is a solid true to form Bourgogne rouge. Medium bodied and good juicy acidity. Pretty notes of spice and underbrush. |

12/5/2016 - poptart_nyc Likes this wine: 91 pointsI'm adding this as one of my wines of the month for the store. I'm really impressed with the purity of fruit without getting sappy sweet or too citrusy. A lot of care was put in this wine and it shows. Really clean. No malo. Leesy without being funky. I can see this being so so versatile with food. Complements my pad Thai perfectly. |

11/23/2016 - poptart_nyc Likes this wine: 91 pointsThe 1st impression is of a spicy quality and some good medium weight. Also saline nutty and pineapple underripe, maybe a touch of vanilla?. The nose really only showed a sea spray and maybe lemon zest note. The finish was very- not chalky- but textured and minerally. Probabaly from the volcanic influence. Complex. Well put together. Enjoyable. Broad in appeal. And great value |

11/18/2016 - poptart_nyc wrote: 86 pointsFirst nose is of oak pure and simple. Then Baking spices. Darker fruits are there although it's not a heavy pinot and not creamy Malo chocolatey. It's surprisingly not hot for the abv%. Other wise it's clean and quaffable and good value for the price point. Lacking in acidity a bit. I also sneezed a lot and I don't usually have any histamine issues with wine so may be related or not. |

7/22/2015 - poptart_nyc Likes this wine: 87 pointsGood balance and clean correctness for a wild natural wine. I thought it had great acidity and some minerality and enjoyable flavor which is the important thing. Restrained nose. Medi full body weight with some fleshy tree fruit, nuttiness, and the cut of papaya. Spicy pineapple citrus finish. |

2/14/2012 - poptart_nyc wrote: 98 pointsone of my first comments was that this is very close to a perfect wine, for what i was looking for. probably the closest to perfection that i'll ever be able to afford. initial nose was raw mushroom, and some red fruit. the palate had great purity of fruit. ripe cherries and a strong sweet orange that's surprising for how rich and earthy it is. as it opened up i got some demi glace, truffle, iron and more earth along with a herbal, floral note. And sweet sugar going to honey! |

8/26/2011 - poptart_nyc wrote: 90 pointsa very unique take on the vintage and champagne styles in general. the color is the 1st thing that struck me , very deep gold. you could see the effusive but miniscule bubbles. the aromas and flavors are an interesting mix. i expected an nuttyer, yeastier, more aged flavor. there was a fresh geen apple and caramel nose. nice minerality, and fruit skin. tart, medium full, not under ripe, but not lush by any means. restrained, and would probably benefit from some time |

8/13/2011 - poptart_nyc wrote: 92 pointsSo glad we did not open this at the roof party with a bunch of vouvray swilling pot-heads. This is a wine to mull over. After it was finished i spent some time sniifing the glass. Ripe in a pure, not fat way. It has some firm tannins, and it fills the mouth like your stuffing a silk scarf in there. Similar to a Gevery. A touch of mineral/iron., a hint of tree sap. Really nice fruit, but in a way that helps the other components. For one second it ffinshed tight, but relaxed as the night moved on. The nose showed the mouth the way. Value up the wazoo! |
