3/31/2024 - jim_crane wrote: NRIn a really nice spot right now. Day 1 - decanted for about an hour. Nicely balanced acidity and tannin. Warm fruit. Humming. Day 2 - held together. A bit drier. Just a nice, even Italian red. Nothing pronounced and nothing understated. |

9/19/2023 - jim_crane Likes this wine: NR2019 RD comes out of the bottle like a laser and zings the palette. Decanted half of it. One hour tames it. Back to pouring from bottle and it’s wound up again. This one needs a ton of air. It’s smooth, juicy fruit with a decant. Needs time. |

11/26/2022 - jim_crane wrote: 93 pointsThis is a confident California Pinot. Dark garnet and youthful glow. Juicy nose. Wild strawberry. On the palate, this lifts through the midpalate. Shows some dill with the fruit. Finishes rich. Subliminal oak. Kyle wants more earth and minerality. He said 95. |

11/26/2022 - jim_crane wrote: 96 pointsFour hour decant. Served with rack of lamb and Gorgonzola risotto. Kyle said 97. We disagreed on the palate. This is remarkable. The color is like a tawny port. It glistens. We could look at it all night. The nose has classic Italian age. Menthol, iron, light dust. Red fruit. Energic and alive. Impresses across the entire palate. High acidity at the mid palate. Drying tannins at the back. Amazing level of tannin for the age and color. Does not look dense enough for these tannins. Chenille texture. Body is deceiving. Drinks light at first glance and then gains weight throughout the super long finish. This goes on far beyond one minute, two minutes…super happy with this bottle. |

10/14/2022 - jim_crane Likes this wine: NRPresents full bodied with an approachable fruit forward palate. Velvety tannins. Provoking conversation. Still, falls off quickly. Surprised it’s Sangiovese. Missing cherry. Not confused. Just outside of expectations. Geez, this reads like a mess. It’s a great wine. Drink up and enjoy it! Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

10/2/2022 - jim_crane Likes this wine: 90 pointsDrinking so well. Nose of mature fruit. Energetic. Acidity is super bright. Tannins are still integrating. Creamy body. Medium. Anise. Traditional cab notes. Cigar. Blackberries. Cloves. Ready with room to go. Wonderful! 50 + 4 + 13 + 15 + 8 |

3/2/2022 - jim_crane Likes this wine: NRDecanted for two hours and drank over the next three. On opening, it was shut down and giving nothing. The decant is essential as the nose opened into dark fruit and deep earthiness. Seems to be just approaching the next level of development. It’s good now but this has some room to improve in my mind. Lovely and looking forward to the next bottle in a few years. |

1/9/2022 - jim_crane wrote: NROpened with a PNP on Saturday night and that was not the right move. Closed and unimpressive. I was frustrated with it. On Sunday, the aromas, textures, and flavors emerged to my pleasure. Dry earth and floral notes plus some leather. Supple tannins provide a soft grip. Bright acid and medium body. Surprisingly juicy fruit. Very nice wine. Will provide ample decanting next time. |

12/25/2021 - jim_crane wrote: NRJust lovely. Dense garnet. Matured into earth, saddle leather. Acid is fresh, silky tannin. Holds on through the entire drink without losing power. Long finish. Proves that you don’t need to spend a pretty sum to get a wine that will deliver when it grows up. |

8/27/2021 - jim_crane Does not like this wine: NRMeh. Has an indication of the deeply earthy underbody of the riojas I like but this one is too clothed in an odd vanilla and green olive character. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |
