12/29/2012 - sdr Likes this wine: 95 pointsRemarkably youthful; seems more like a wine from the eighties. Elegant, not typically a descriptor for Latour. Medium weight, perfectly preserved (purchased from a Christie's auction over 10 years ago). More like a Chateau Margaux in its suave sophistication and breed. Plenty of life, no fatigue in the glass for over an hour. Just lacks a bit of complexity for perfection. |

Lots of things going on. Tannins are there of course, but they are mostly hidden behind the thick fruit. Not fully integrated yet, but I do not mind. Will live forever. WOTN |

6/14/2012 - dream wrote: 99 pointsPerfect color still. Gorgeous nose of sweet earth, tobacco, black fruits and graphite. Wonderfully full and opulent with flavors of Latour dirt, decadent black fruits, gravel, walnuts and minerals. Smooth as silk and totally pure and balanced with a long and complex finish and still noticeable tannins although they are smooth and round. A perfect bottle of the '59 and it still drinks young but the wonderful nutty complexity of older Bordeaux is on full display. Impossible to stop drinking this.... 99+ |
