  September 20, 2009 - Dark red. Quite an intense nose. Lots going on. Picking of aromas of cherry, leather, and spices. There's an underlying darkness to the aromas that make me think Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The palate has moderate acidity with smooth fine grained tannins. Finishes a little gritty with some spicy alcohol. On the second day the alcohol on the finish is toned down. Overall it's a big ripe CA Pinot that offers up some interesting flavors and shows good complexity. I'm not sure how this will age but it should be good for at least another 3 to 5 years.
