May 22, 2013 - So this is the second 2006 Brunello I've opened from my cellar and is far superior in quality. It reminds you how high Brunello can take the Sangiovese varietal. The wine is dark garnet colored and it smells like strawberry, and red currant which is indicative of quality but not so potent that it gives away the brilliance of the wine which is really on the palate. It tastes like Red Currant, Plum, Dust, Forest floor, Green Olive, and Tobacco that come into perfect balance after about 45 minutes. The full body and long finish add polish to the wine. It was a little coarse for my liking but that may have been on account of the fact that it needed an ever longer decant. Really good juice. Cheers!
