  August 24, 2013 - A really thick and powerful vintage for this wine with loads of black fruit flavors along with strong hints of coffee, charcoal, black licorice and minerals. Needed a good two-three hours decant to begin to open up. Finishes deeply concentrated with strong notes of bitter chocolate and minerals. This baby borders on over-the-top but I think gets away with it. It also really needs time given the size of the wine and the powerful but ripe tannins. Given the Eisele vineyard's uncanny ability to unfold over time, I will hold the rest of my bottles for several more years.
