  • Wine Fool Likes this wine: 100 points

October 7, 2013 - My birthday week is the perfect opportunity (or excuse?) to decant (one hour) another bottle. Black color lurks in the dusky purple robe. With swirling, a vibrant and complex nose emerges of black fruits, anise, rosemary, sage, pepper, coffee beans, dark chocolate and just a hint of funk. Broad and full-bodied, the wine coats the mouth with glycerin viscosity. The concentrated ripe fruit, coffee and olive flavors are huge, almost decadent, and are enlivened by juicy uplifting acidity. The long-lasting finish is rich and creamy and laced with plums, herbs, cocoa and minerals and the big and sweet tannins scarcely call attention to themselves. How can something this powerful be so seamless, effortless and balanced? This very young wine will surely get better with time, but even in its infancy it inspires awe. Happy birthday to me. 100 points. (And I still want 10 cases just for me!)
